10 years ago, countries came together to ratify the #SafeSchoolsDeclaration, ramping up commitments to protect education from attacks.
At the 5th International Conference, the @UkrEdCluster highlighted how the international community can take to strengthen monitoring systems.
The denial of #girlseducation is a form of GBV.
Armed groups and the lack of female teachers also increase the risk of #GBV occurring in/around schools.
Education Clusters have an important role to play by ensuring gender equality is high on the agenda.

In the occupied #WestBank, 48,000 children go to UNRWA schools.
In response to the Israeli Forces “Iron Wall” operation - the longest and most destructive for over 20 years - UNRWA launched an adapted education programme in February 2025.
UNRWA has provided a continuity of learning for its students, including through distribution of self-learning materials, online teaching, and temporary use of Palestinian Authority’s schools.
