Customers can’t ask for solutions they are unable to imagine. So don’t ask them what solutions they want.
Instead ask them what metrics they use to measure success when getting a job done. Then conceptualize new solutions that will help them get that job done perfectly. #JTBD

9. Jobs to Be Done: Theory to Practice by @Ulwick
Tip: Tony invited the Jobs to be Done theory. People don't buy products. They "hire" them to do jobs. This book will teach you everything you need to know.

@imMonkeyInSpace @nurijanian Steve Jobs is saying people don’t know what SOLUTIONS they want. Which is true. But solutions aren’t needs. Solutions satisfy needs. People do know what needs they have when trying to get a job done.
This 8-minute video helps to explain the mindset.

Jobs-to-be-done should be the first tool you use when building a new product. JTBD helps understand both the user's specific goal ("job") and the thought processes that would lead that user to "hire" a product to complete the job.

It's a great trip, beginning with the roots of ODI, foundations of the process & how @Strategyn is focused on the future of helping companies to better innovate

What is Jobs-to-be-Done?
Invest 8 minutes and learn how to think about markets, needs, opportunities, and segments through a customer lens, e.g., an outside-in perspective, not inside-out.

@mgiorgetti The challenge is moving people from a a solution-space, ideas-first mindset to a problem-space, needs-first mindset. It requires a different perspective.
