Pearls of the Blessed Ramadan (1)!

The first tafseer of this month of Ramadan (1447H/2026G) took place at Annoor Masjeed, Wuse 2, Abuja, and x-rayed Chapter 3, Verse 185 of the Glorious Qur'an.

Allah says in the verse: "Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception."

Some of the major lessons from the verse are:

1) Death is inevitable for everyone: humans, jinns, animals, and birds. This is also emphasized in Surah Az-Zumar: 68.

2) Population Reference Bureau (PRB) states approximately that 117 billion people have lived in this world. Of this number, 109 billion are dead, while around 8 billion are alive. Out of every hundred who have lived, only 6 are alive, while 94 are already dead.

3) The Prophet also admonished us to always remember the cutter-off of delights (Tirmidhi: 2307).

4) Death occurs to both the soul and the body. As a result, when the soul leaves the body, the body will cease to function, one organ after the other. Some could continue to function for almost 24 hours.

5) The reward of the hereafter is according to the quality of our actions, both good and bad.

6) The greatest blessing of both worlds is to be taken away from hellfire and be admitted to paradise.

7) Worldly life is a life of deception. As a result, we are encouraged to live in it within the bonds set by Allah, and our priority must be the hereafter always.

May Allah register us among the major beneficiaries of the month of Ramadan.
