OBIDIENT MOVEMENT REJECTS THE APPOINTMENT OF THEO ABU AGADA AND DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY FROM NDC LEADERSHIP AND TANKO YUNUSA

The attention of the Obidient Movement has been drawn to the appointment of Theo Abu Agada as Director of New Media and Strategic Communications by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

We condemn this appointment in the strongest possible terms.

This appointment is not just insensitive. It is a direct insult to their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the Obidient Movement, and the millions of Nigerians who have stood firmly behind a movement built on competence, character, justice, accountability, and people-centred politics.

A party that claims to value the Obidient Movement cannot turn around and appoint a man whose public record is filled with repeated attacks, insults, and open hostility towards their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Obidients. You cannot disrespect the largest support base within your political structure and still pretend you are building unity.

Theo Abu Agada has publicly described supporters of their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in insulting terms. He has questioned Peter Obi’s capacity, portrayed him as a threat to free speech, accused his supporters with reckless language, and repeatedly made statements that show clear contempt for the same movement NDC now expects to energise its public communication.

Even worse, he once claimed that Peter Obi had “unleashed his IPOB supporters on Nigerians.” That kind of statement goes beyond political disagreement. It is a dangerous attempt to link their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Obidients to IPOB, and by extension paint the movement with the brush of extremism and terrorism. No serious political party that respects Peter Obi or the Obidient Movement should reward such a person with a sensitive communications position.

Can NDC appoint someone who has publicly insulted and disparaged Rabiu Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya Movement into a sensitive communications position and expect Kwankwasiyya supporters to clap for it? Can NDC reward someone who has repeatedly attacked Kwankwaso and still claim it respects his movement?

If the answer is no, then why does NDC think it can do this to their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement?

The NDC leadership must explain how such a person passed through any serious political vetting process for a sensitive communications role. New Media and Strategic Communications is not a decoration. It is the public voice of a party. Appointing someone with a history of hostility towards their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement into that office sends a very clear message, and the message is disrespect.

This also raises serious questions about the role and effectiveness of Tanko Yunusa as the leader of the Obidient Movement.

What exactly is Tanko doing?

In the Labour Party, he was always seen around the leadership, taking pictures and standing close to Peter Obi, yet the same Labour Party repeatedly disrespected Peter Obi and the movement he was supposed to represent.

In ADC, the same pattern repeated itself. The Obidient Movement was treated with disregard, and its value was undermined.

Now in NDC, the same thing is happening again. The party leadership continues to disregard the Obidient Movement, even though Obidients remain the largest, loudest, and most active stakeholder group in this political alignment. That disregard has now reached their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, directly through the appointment of someone whose public record shows open hostility towards him.

So we ask again: what exactly is Tanko doing?

Is he there to defend the movement, or to take pictures?

Is he there to protect Peter Obi’s political leverage, or to stand in rooms like a mannequin?

Is he there to represent Obidients, or to lock comment sections whenever people ask uncomfortable questions?

Tanko Yunusa must answer a simple question: what the hell is he doing?

The Obidient Movement cannot continue to be treated as a crowd for rallies, online engagement, and political optics, while those who openly insult the movement are put in strategic positions where they will continue the insults.

We demand the following:

1. The immediate reversal of Theo Abu Agada’s appointment.
2. A public explanation from the NDC leadership on how this appointment was approved.
3. A formal apology to their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement.
4. A clear commitment from NDC that no individual with a public record of hostility towards Peter Obi or the Obidient Movement will be placed in any sensitive strategic communication role.
5. A full explanation from Tanko Yunusa on what he is doing as leader of the Obidient Movement and why this pattern of disrespect keeps repeating itself under his watch.

The Obidient Movement is not a spare tyre. We are not political furniture. We are not a movement to be used when convenient and disrespected when power is being shared.

If NDC wants the energy, credibility, reach, and sacrifice of Obidients, then it must treat the movement with respect.

Anything short of that is unacceptable.

Both cannot win their polling units. They are errand boys to Abuja politicians; they have zero electoral values. To add salt to injury, both are anti-Peter Obi. The NDC is unthinking & unyielding, brash even! I can’t believe what my eyes have seen. I have been holding back. I had hoped to see a sharp departure from others.

But I was wrong, SO WRONG! So I take back all the reviews. You’ve shown me who you are, & I believe you! Who appoints notorious charlatans @TheoAbuAgada & @XBrianDennis to head their Media Communications Department?

It’s obvious the NDC as a party is out to shut the Obidients out. It’s obvious they are out of touch with the realities out there on the streets.

Perhaps, you’ve overestimated yourselves?

Both boys are on my blocked list. I have them nestled in there since 2023. Worse still, your party is enmeshed in allegations of corruption across almost all 36 states & the FCT.

The abduction of the Chibok girls in 2014 triggered a global movement. One school abduction was enough to unite Nigerians, attract international attention, and place enormous pressure on the government through the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.

Yet, what has happened since then should trouble every Nigerian.

Under President Buhari's eight years in office, Nigeria witnessed about ten school abductions. Under President Tinubu's administration, in just three years, we have already recorded over ten school abductions.

Despite these repeated tragedies, there has been neither sustained national outrage nor significant international attention comparable to what followed Chibok.

This raises an important question: have we become so accustomed to insecurity that what once shocked our national conscience is now treated as normal?

At a time when millions of Nigerians are grappling with insecurity, poverty, and hardship, it is deeply troubling that those in power appear more focused on political calculations and preparations for the next election than on addressing the urgent challenges confronting our people.

It is, therefore, no surprise that some observers have labelled us a "Now Disgraced Nation". While we do not agree with any attempt to define our great country by its present difficulties, we must acknowledge that persistent insecurity, economic hardship, and leadership failure have damaged our reputation and standing among nations.

The answer is not denial, propaganda, or political distraction. The answer is leadership that is competent, compassionate, accountable, and genuinely committed to the welfare and security of the Nigerian people.

The Nigerian youth must not become indifferent. We must all refuse to normalise failure.

1. Atiku Abubakar is broke (full stop).

2. He was financially decimated by Buhari, who wanted to ensure he would no longer have a large war chest to fund an election.

3. Buhari achieved this through Hadiza Usman, who frustrated Intels, a company co-owned by Atiku.

4. In 2021, Atiku sold his shares in Intels and used the money to run in the 2023 PDP primary election. Gov. Wike made sure Atiku spent big in PDP primaries by paying $30,000 per delegate.

5. Atiku who was fully extorted, needed a sitting governor to open his state treasury to co-fund his 2023 campaign, and Gov. Okowa came in handy.

6. Records show that Gov. Okowa borrowed N30,000,000,000 from three banks, Zenith Bank, UBA, and Access Bank. That was the money used for Atiku’s presidential campaign in 2023.

6b. EFCC records shows that Okowa could not show which project swallowed the last minute loan he took from 3 banks in 2022 using Delta state allocation as security.

7. Atiku’s remaining businesses, like America a university of Nigeria, Adama Beverage Limited, Gotel Communications, and Prodeco Nigeria Limited, cannot provide Atiku with the funds needed for the 2027 election, so he's looking for another “Okowa.” Sadly, that option is now limited.

8. Atiku has 25 voracious children waiting for food to be ready. Potential 25 Seyi Tinubu’s. Can Nigeria survive it? No!

9. Bottom line is: what we've seen Tinubu do will be child’s play compared to what Atiku will do if he becomes president.

10. A man who’s badly financially decimated and damaged, who has sold many assets and liquidated numerous businesses in his quest for the presidency, will first recover his investments before doing anything else.

11. If Tinubu, with Lagos treasury in his hands, is still hustling and scavenging the nation like a hungry vulture, imagine what Atiku will do.

12. Peter Obi remains Nigeria’s only real option. He's not broke. He's not hungry. He will not thief up your money.

13. This cannot be said about Atiku and Tinubu.

14. May God save us from Atiku and Tinubu.

Dear Young Nigerians,

One lesson from the 2023 elections, particularly in Lagos, should never be forgotten.

In the period following the presidential election and leading up to the governorship election, we witnessed a troubling shift in public discourse. Conversations that should have focused on competence, governance, development, and the future of our nation were gradually diverted towards tribal sentiments, ethnic divisions, and unnecessary suspicion among citizens.

Many sincere and well-meaning Nigerians participated in these conversations without realising that they were being drawn into narratives carefully designed by others.

Throughout history, whenever politicians find it difficult to compete on ideas, performance, character, or vision, some resort to exploiting the fault lines of ethnicity, religion, and identity. Their calculation is simple: a divided people are easier to manipulate than a united people.

Today, I see similar efforts emerging again, sometimes in more subtle and sophisticated ways. Narratives are planted, amplified, and circulated, often by individuals who genuinely believe they are defending a worthy cause, without recognizing the broader agenda behind such campaigns.

Let me state clearly that Pastor Enoch Adeboye remains one of the foremost fathers of faith in our nation. For decades, he has consistently preached the virtues of peace, prayer, love, reconciliation, and national unity. Even when faced with provocation, his response has always reflected humility, restraint, wisdom, and grace.

At 84 years of age, it would be unfair for young and able-bodied Nigerians to transfer to him responsibilities that properly belong to them. The task of building a better Nigeria rests primarily on the shoulders of the younger generation. It is their duty to lead the conversations, champion the reforms, and drive the positive change our nation urgently requires.

We must be careful not to become instruments in the hands of those who secretly nurture division while publicly preaching unity. In most cases, their target is not the individual being attacked; instead, it is the person who is attacking. Their real objective is to weaken the bonds that hold us together as one people and one nation.

I therefore urge all young Nigerians: do not allow anyone to recruit you into hatred. Do not allow anyone to weaponise your ethnicity, your faith, or your admiration for respected leaders.

Question every narrative. Verify every claim. Follow the facts. Resist manipulation.

The Nigeria of our dreams can only be built by citizens who refuse to be divided, who choose unity over hatred, and who place our collective future above narrow interests.

Nigeria has a massive landmass of 923,768 square kilometres. Divided by our population of approximately 230 million, this results in about 4.00 square metres per person. The foregoing clearly illustrates that we have absolutely no justification for being among the world's hungriest nations.

Transitioning our nation from a state of consumption to one of production, through significant investments in agriculture, is the sole dependable strategy to escape the current depths of hunger and poverty. As I often emphasise, the uncultivated lands in our northern region represent our most substantial tangible assets. Transforming this sector is our direct pathway to prosperity.

ENERGY SECTOR
Nigeria today is the nation with the highest number of citizens lacking access to electricity globally. We currently generate and distribute a mere 4,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity for a population exceeding 200 million. In contrast, comparable nations worldwide - including several African peers such as South Africa and Egypt - each generate and distribute over 40,000 MW, despite both countries having less than half of our population. This considerable power shortfall continues to cripple businesses, choke industries, and stall overall economic growth.

Over the next four years, I commit to ensuring a minimum of 10,000 Mof W power increase generation and distribution.

UNEMPLOYMENT AND UNDEREMPLOYMENT

Our large pool of talented youth remains largely unemployed. The current official unemployment rate of 4% grossly misrepresents the true situation; actual underemployment and unemployment in Nigeria exceeds 30%, with youth unemployment sitting at over 40% - among the highest globally, necessitating urgent intervention. We will address this by aggressively supporting the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through targeted tax incentives, special interest rates, and accessible funding in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, entertainment, sports, and distribution. These improvements will be both measurable and verifiable.

CORRUPTION AND GOVERNANCE COSTS
Nigerians will witness a tangible and verifiable reduction in corruption and the baseline costs associated with governance. Public resources will be managed with absolute transparency, prudence, and accountability to ensure that every naira spent yields demonstrable value for citizens.

RULE OF LAW
The rule of law will be fiercely upheld, and adherence to it will be sacrosanct for both government officials and citizens alike, strictly in accordance with our constitutional frameworks.

DEMOCRACY
Our democracy will exemplify true governance of the people, by the people, and for the people, completely free from interference by the ruling party. Instead, we will institutionalise deep respect for opposition parties and foster constructive engagement in governance.

Under my leadership, democracy will be pursued with integrity, fairness, and transparency.
