We're taking our #VotingForHome banner on tour! Yesterday we were in Newcastle where 1 in 42 homes are sitting empty. As we head to the polls, let's make home a priority and ask the next government to prioritise solving the #HousingEmergency.

On Friday 7 June, @UKLabour will be holding talks to decide what will end up in their manifesto. Labour - if you're serious about ending the housing emergency, you must commit to build the 90k social homes a year we need. #BuildSocialHousing
I've just used @Shelter easy tool to contact my candidates at the next General Election - asking them to commit to ending the housing emergency. You can too!: Wannabe my MP? End the housing emergency! https://t.co/rhJYGkgqEd
Reasons our doormats don’t say “Welcome Home”:
Vote for social housing. Vote for a fair rental system. Vote for home.

Great work by #SMKAwards2024#CampaignerOfTheYear runner-up: Andy Soar.
The high cost of land is one of the biggest barriers to building social rent homes. One of the reasons is due to a bizarre old rule called ‘hope value’. Andy's been at the centre of the campaign to scrap it.
With thanks to @LukePollard for meeting with Shelter staff and activists last week to discuss all things housing. Our housing system is broken and needs national and local action to resolve it.
Converting empty homes into social homes isn’t going to solve the housing emergency - but it’s a good place to start!
Together, we can make sure that politicians on Merseyside commit to take action to end the #HousingEmergency
