“Do You Have Any Challenges?”
Those Were The Words Of Governor Alex Otti After He Suddenly Stopped His Convoy And Walked Into a Military Base Along Ngwa Road During a Routine Inspection In Aba.
“How Are You? How Is Work Going? Is The Commander In?” Governor Otti Asked The Soldier On Duty.
The Officer Quickly Took Him To Meet The Commander, Captain T. Yabiteigha, Who Was Clearly Surprised By The Unplanned Visit.
Governor Otti Said:
“Sorry We Took You Unawares. I Was Just Passing And Decided To Check On You People. Are There Any Challenges We Should Know About?”
Before The Officer Could Say Much, Governor Otti Looked Around And Added:
“I Can Already See This Place Needs Renovation.”
The Soldiers Then Showed Him Their Faulty Operational Vehicles And Poor Working Conditions.
Immediately, Governor Otti Directed That The Vehicles Be Repaired Or Replaced Without Delay And Ordered The Renovation Of The Base, Including Installation Of Solar Lights.
Then Came The Emotional Moment.
Captain Yabiteigha Told The Governor:
“Sir, You May Not Remember Me, But Last Year You Paid My Hospital Bills And Supported The Family Of Our Colleague Who Died During An Attack. You Even Gave Scholarship To His Children. I Have Been Looking For a Way To Thank You For Saving My Life.”
How Ogidi Mena 28 years old, was Extra-judicially murdered by ASP NUHU in Delta State
The victim Mena went to the Effurun main park at Sapele Road to take delivery of a waybill. When he eventually got there, they told him to add money because the pack was a bit heavy. They curiously asked him what was in the waybill, but he told them someone sent him, and they asked him to open it.
When they finally compelled him to open it, they saw a Beretta pistol with 4 live ammunitions. They quickly held him down, but he told them he was sent by his friend to help him pick up the waybill.
He cried for mercy that he was ready to take them to the particular guy that sent him. The leadership of the motor park tied his legs and hands backward, blocked the gate of the park to prevent a possible attack from Mena's gang and then called ACP Aliyu Shaba to take over the matter, investigate, and unravel the men behind the gun running business.
The Uvwie Area Commander then mandated their patrol team headed by ASP Nuhu Usman, aka Ogbegbe, to go and bring the suspect to the station. Ogbegbe and his team headed straight to the park in order to bring the said suspect, Mena.
On getting there, the moment Ogbegbe saw the pistol, he got angry and was "jolificating" in the euphoria of the crowd hailing him. He cocked his gun and fired Mena's hand. His team assisted and carried Mena into the vehicle alive.
At this point, Mena was still alive agonising in the pain of Ogbegbe's trigger-happy bullet. They eventually got to the Ekpan station and instead of Ogbegbe Usman to report to the Area Commander Aliyu Shaba, who sent him to bring the boy, just at the car park, they brought Mena out of their patrol Toyota Seinna Vehicle ASP Ogbegbe shøt him again.
My grouse is not that he should just be dismissed from the force but properly investigated. What was he covering that led him to shooting Mena on the spot, finding out that he wasn't dęąɗ, then shooting him again to dęąth before the Area Commander Aliyu Shaba could even see the young man for possible confession?
I strongly suspect that ASP Ogbegbe knows something we do not know. Why kíIIíng the young man in a hurry. This is a case of clear murder and they must face the music. Even if you find him in possession of a pistol, it doesn't amount to kíIIíng him.
BREAKING: New footage shows the aftermath of the massacre carried out on Palm Sunday by Islamists against Christians in Nigeria.
A mother holds her son for the last time.
According to the mother: This happened today at around 4:00am. My son woke up saying his chest was hurting and that he needed to see a doctor. Normally I try to avoid rushing to the hospital because I know how he can be, but this time I decided to take him anyway.
On the way there he actually fell asleep, and for a moment I even thought of turning back. But something told me to keep going, so I drove straight to casualty at Groote Schuur Hospital.
Nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to witness in the next two hours.
About two hours later, a woman came rushing into casualty screaming in a way that cuts straight through your heart. She was carrying her little daughter, who looked about 7 or 8 years old. The pain in that mother’s cry was something I will never forget.
Doctors rushed to help, and after a few minutes they came back and told the mother that her daughter was gone.
The mother let out the most heartbreaking scream. Everyone in that casualty fell silent.
But then something incredible happened.
Instead of collapsing, the mother suddenly started praying loudly.
“Lord remember me! Lord remember me! It’s me your servant. I have served you faithfully. You are not a man that you should lie!”
At that moment I found myself sitting there crying, and I didn’t even realise when I started praying with her. She began praying in tongues, and I joined in.
About an hour and a half later, the doctors came back again. The mother saw them and immediately asked, “Is she alive?”
And the doctor said something I will never forget:
“Yes… we’re preparing a bed for her in ICU.”
The entire room froze.
The mother screamed again, but this time it was different. She started thanking God, shouting “Jesus, you are faithful!”
What amazed me even more is that she didn’t run to go see her daughter immediately. She stayed there for another hour, still praying and thanking God.
All I can say is this: I recommend Jesus. I truly do.
Because today, with my own eyes, I witnessed something that felt like a miracle — the power of prayer.
There’s probably only a 1% chance that woman will ever read this, but if she does, I want her to know that she changed my life today.
I will never forget this day.
