@EricDLombardi That is actually infuriating. I cannot stand govt advertising no matter the party. Decreasing it was one of the few good things Trudeau did. Why am I (the taxpayer) paying for the adds I'm seeing.
@BagelPolling@M279615@JJ_McCullough Me and wife have one, will at least have 2 and would like up to 4. Affordability is a key driver impacting how many we will have. If half of your suggestions were implemented we would happily have 4. Income splitting having the greatest impact.
@Prominent_Bryan What's wrong with income splitting? I know many people with kids who purposely are single on paper so they can get extra in gov benefits. Income splitting is a least one financial incentive to not do this, and also incentivizes families. Seniors can split pensions
@howardanglin The CPC should give up on the boomers and just run on this. Pierre should use it as a last ditch effort to attract young voters. Lower income at which OAS is clawed back, decrease income taxes, reintroduce income splitting. Run unapologetically for young Canadians. Worth a shot.
@BenWoodfinden Glad my tax dollars are subsidizing this via OAS when I can barely afford a 3 BD home, let alone vacation, (in a non major metro) with a gross household of 200k, meanwhile almost all CCB is clawed back and minimal available daycare subsidies are available due to income.
@priorconfirmed Or you know, make Canada a better place for young people so they don't feel the need to go elsewhere. The amount that the young are subsidizing the elderly in Canada is bonkers, OAS, income splitting for pensions, property tax deductions for seniors, high development fees etc..
@xMedicToo@Prominent_Bryan Boomers weren't even taxed enough to pay for their eventual healthcare needs/costs let alone the insane amount OAS is and projected to become.
@maxlugavere Agreed, there may be a component of autoimmunity and general inflammatory damage linked to them (though no research to back that up), and when used in fryers (high temp for a long time) they are probably worse than say tallow, but fried foods are unhealthy regardless.
@Prominent_Bryan Higher perhaps even federally collected property tax. And sure carbon tax too, but some Canadians live in circumstances where they inevitably have high carbon use and there isn't a lot they can do.
@ZKForTre There are edge cases where fibre is unhelpful despite its conversion by gut bacteria to butyrate. Inflammatory bowel disease for one. But yes, by and large for most fiber seems to be beneficial to gut health.
@purrlitics He kinda gives me the ick. Too much of a boomer, and the whole I'm from the working class thing just feels too forced-even if it's true. Like I get it you used to be a dock worker, but you a union leading suit now, the saying hell wear work boots in HoC thing is cringe.
@purrlitics Poor kids yes, but by and large the federal government shouldn't be in the business of feeding children. Have meals for poor families (free) and busy/lazy families (at cost) and let the rest of us choose what to feed our kids. As in almost all things government does not know best
