Strong legal, policy and governance frameworks are critical to Somalia’s security sector.
Recently in Kismayo and Jowhar, @UNTMIS_ experts in collaboration with @ONSSomalia and @UNDPSomalia organised consultations on the development of State Security Committees and State Security Offices Legal Acts.
Attended by 60 representatives from State Security Offices, line ministries, state police, and parliamentary committees in attendance, the sessions aimed to develop locally owned, constitutionally aligned and effective legal frameworks that strengthen coordination, oversight and accountability in the security sector.
