More #BrumBinStrike rubbish here from @BrumLeader @CllrJohnCotton
1⃣ There have NOT been "multiple reasonable offers made" to our members. Can @BhamCityCouncil specify what these offers were and when? No, because they're lying.
2⃣ Scaremongering about further equal pay liabilities has been a council tactic throughout the dispute. @unitetheunion has provided senior KC opinion, in writing and in person, to the council explaining why there is no risk. The council claims it has legal advice contradicting this, but won't show us. Why might that be?
3⃣ Cotton is now claiming his door is open, but he never attended negotiations, and it was the council who walked away from talks last summer and have refused our repeated offers to resume those talks.
4⃣ And away from the comments section on @birmingham_live and Facebook moaners, actual public opinion strongly backs a fair settlement for workers. We can back that up with evidence - almost 90% of people we've canvassed door-to-door side with the workers.

✊STRIKE⚡️
This is disgraceful behaviour by GFM, @unitetheunion and our members will not stand for it.
We have tried negotiating to no avail. Our members are understandably angry. ⤵️
The @GOVUK must enact full reforms of workers’ rights as promised to the British people.
Pledges to enhance the rights of employees were a central part of @UKLabour's election platform, we will not allow the employment rights bill to be weakened. #TUC25

🚨Pay dispute declared🚨
Despite repeated requests UCU still refuses talks over the 2024/25 pay claim we submitted in April.
Why would a trade union employer refuse to negotiate on pay?
Our pay year begins on 1 August so we’re now 3 months into an effective pay freeze.
Campus Trade Union reps: "the new policies and procedures are unworkable. Staff are fully stretched and already at breaking point. These new policies will make colleagues unwell!!"
@UlsterUni Leaders: 🤷🤷♂️🤷🏼♂️
The use of #FireAndRehire to make already low paid workers even poorer is despicable and without justification. Oscar Mayer should be ashamed of itself and must immediately drop this abhorrent plan.

🔥 UNITE WIN | Unite members secure deal worth 8.5% for Allied Bakeries workers
💬 This deal will provide a timely pay increase and extra security for @AlliedTrade HGV drivers. @unitetheunion is continuing to deliver better #JobsPayConditions for our driver membership. ⬇️
Council workers across Britain to ballot on strike action.
@unitetheunion members have drawn a line in the sand and will not accept any further erosion of their pay. #JobsPayConditions https://t.co/DEVMddXNZn
Here are some of Unite’s top wins in 2024 so far. £430 million has gone back in to workers’ pockets since Sharon Graham became general secretary.

Following the current unrest that continues to be driven by the Far Right, please see my statement that outlines Unite East Midlands response. This is a joint statement from myself, the Chair and Vice-Chairs of the East Midlands, Regional Committee. 1/2

Unite welcomes the ditching of the Minimum Service Levels which prolonged disputes. The key now is to ensure the New Deal for Working People Employment Rights' package is delivered within 100 days as promised. Not watered down but finally redressing the balance for workers.
