Andrea Stewart-Cousins at Albany presser when asked whether bill on conversation for end of leg session
If #GoodCause does not pass this session, @AndreaSCousins signature will be on every no-cause eviction warrant in New York.
@GovKathyHochul, @CarlHeastie, @AndreaSCousins will be personally responsible for every rent hike, every retaliatory eviction in our state.
Thanks again to all of the community members, organizations, and advocates who joined @emilyassembly and I at our #GoodCause Townhall yesterday evening!

BREAKING: Albany’s #GoodCause law struck down, judge rules that ONLY the state can pass #GoodCause.
It’s time for @AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie to act. We’re in a housing crisis and tenants need help. If cities can’t pass #GoodCause, our state lawmakers must.
.@nycpa released his 2022 Worst Landlord Watchlist today in Washington Heights, outside properties owned by Johnathan Santana, who topped this year's list. Santana averaged 2,980 open violations across 15 buildings this year. Landlords on 2022 list amassed over 69,000 violations.
We must continue to find ways to prevent landlords from evading accountability & protect tenants from unsafe conditions.
Thanks to the @nycpa, the city has a tool with the Worst Landlord Watchlist to identify residential property owners who consistently break housing laws.

#endwarehousing dream team here at the @NYSHCR hearings calling for an end to warehousing and Frankensteining!! Close the loopholes! Tenants need affordable housing now. #housingcrisis
We’re out in force supporting tenant rights! There is an affordability crisis and homelessness is at record levels. @nyshcr must defend tenants & close loopholes that erode affordable housing.
"'Frankensteining' is the term tenant advocates use for reconfiguring, dividing, or combining two adjacent units to create a new apartment. Currently, when rent-stabilized units are Frankensteined, the landlord can charge whatever they’d like." https://t.co/XGqK64MbeX
"Its algorithm, ProPublica found, was driving rents higher and the company encouraged landlords to LEAVE SOME APARTMENTS VACANT in order to raise rent and be more profitable."

Vacancy rates for apartments under $1500 is essentially at functional zero, making it difficult for low-income and working class NYers to secure safe + well-maintained housing. Today we rallied against landlord neglect and warehousing, and will keep fighting. #endwarehousing
According to @THECITYNY, over 61,000 rent-stabilized units are sitting vacant in midst of perpetual housing crisis where shelter census is at record numbers. Join us Thursday to call for landlord accountability and an end to warehousing! @PiSanchezNYC@galeabrewer@NyWarehousing
