The introduction of MDR on large-value UPI transactions (i.e., above ₹2,000) is an important step towards strengthening the long-term sustainability of India’s digital payments ecosystem. It will help UPI in continuing to scale, innovate and serve consumers and businesses across the country.

A fair and appropriate distribution of MDR across ecosystem participants will support continued investment in technology, infrastructure and acceptance networks. This, in turn, can enable wider UPI acceptance, deepen the customer base and support sustained growth in transaction volumes.

Importantly, all UPI transactions - P2P and P2M - shall remain free for users. P2M UPI transactions below ₹2,000 will continue to remain free for merchants, while MDR may be levied on merchants for P2M .

RBI remains committed to ensuring that UPI continues to be safe, seamless, affordable, and accessible, while supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of India’s world-class digital payments ecosystem.

Big transactions should be chargable and that is a fair decision!

A large number of people are safe from this decision. I belive this decision was made after analysizing 10 years of UPI tranaction data. And computers don't lie!

If Anyone is angry from this decision, He is just Jelous or his/her business is getting impacting.

People also pay using credit cards and pay 2% or more even of 1 rs. payment. I don't know why they don't get angry then 🤣🤣

Online safety of children is a fundamental principle for any social media to operate in India, and it is non-negotiable. Meta has agreed to report child safety-related matters to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. It is a first step towards making the platforms safe for children, and much more needs to be done. The government remains engaged with other platforms to proactively identify and remove such content. The Government shall take action against platforms that do not take proactive steps for the safety of children.
