Love how @UnityDaysCville brings out so many ppl w/genuine investment in this community. Ran into @UVAMensHoops legend (& my former UVA contemporary) @SeanSingletary @ Washington Park just after he & #HaroldDeane finished a Back 2 School 🏀 Camp. Great 2 see the support & love!
African Americans were once not allowed to attend the former @UVA theater in #Charlottesville at all. Learn more from Cville residents' historical experiences in "3rd Street: Best Seats in the House" at @cvilleparamount Aug 29th, 6pm. GET TICKETS HERE https://t.co/9XkH0FIngD
Two years ago, the Charlottesville community came under attack by white supremacists seeking to spread their hateful, vile ideology. Dozens of people standing up for racial justice were injured and Heather Heyer and VSP Pilots Berke Bates & Jay Cullen lost their lives.
Two years later, we are more UNITED. We still have a lot of work to do and our diverse community is coming together to participate in programs and events that educate, inspire, and honor our community.
Two years later, we are more RESILIENT. Filling our parks and the Downtown Mall with friends, family, and neighbors; making new friends and having difficult conversations with one another, and building relationships with our city’s first responders.
Two years later, we are ever HOPEFUL. With scars beginning to heal, our community is committed to telling the truth about our history and investing in change as we move towards economic and racial justice.
The Moms Demand Action booth at the #ResourceFair also paid tribute to the victims of the most recent mass shootings in Dayton, El Paso, and Gilroy. @UnityDaysCville
