@annesheraton Thanks! Its programmed using JavaScript. But you could do it in Processing or similar environments exactly the same! The underlying technique for the patterns is ‘truchet tiling’ and for the balls I use a 2d physics engine.

Balls are now less likely to escape, but there are still a few that manage.

@BRDfromNowhere Absolutely! Its all very buggy still. I dont know exactly what allows them to escape yet, but I also have to figure out why the escaped ones somehow get trapped based on the hexagon tile the tunnels are drawn in.

@heartsalve Yes! Theres already invisible walls around the hexagona that the tunnels are drawn on, which is why they sometimes escape and get stuck. But definitely improving and fixing that soon.

@engineseer Just JavaScript with the Canvas API. But could definitely be done with Processing yes!

Btw, in case you are wondering, the graphics were actually mostly vector graphics which were then directly digital laser printed on the 35mm film, which is why we don't have surviving animation cells of those interfaces.
The warm glow you see in all the old interfaces comes from the exposure on the 35mm film.

@ravagerel1t3 Thanks! I hand-coded this myself. The UI elements ares built with JavaScript, and the EVA-esque look mostly comes from shaders/GLSL that I wrote and use as an effects layer.

@SPVLABS Haha, no there's a bit of barrel distortion that I apply to the entire thing which makes them seem curved.
