I returned to my blog after nearly two years to pen down my thoughts on some recent films (and a few not so recent ones). Have a look and see if you agree or disagree: would love to hear your thoughts. It may be a long time before I write again. HNY! https://t.co/khnMf5IFfx
@reverse_shot Really great to see this film get its due. One of my favorites from 2025. The premise made me wary at first for reasons you mention. One of the best from Collet-Serra in years.
The most famous person I've ever spoken to? I sat next to Richard Feynman on a plane once, and we chatted. In fact, more than once. And I had dinner with him several thousand times. And I spent a few months inside his wife's womb.
It is always fun to chat with David Berenstein. This project grew out of such a conversation. In this paper, we completely solve the problem of a #quantum particle on a circle with an analytic #bootstrap, which yields a fast numerical #algorithm. (1/3)
We found a new O(N) method of determining energy bands in and an O(N log N) method of constructing the #wavefunction. To our knowledge, it is the first bootstrap to directly give the wavefunction, including its phase. (2/3)
We're more than a quarter of the way through the 21st century, so my website has finally joined it: https://t.co/yiBBepP3vn
Research, talks, essays and a new series, “Stories with Code”: science, markets and the arts, with code you can run. First story soon.
Feedback welcome!
In the best tradition of an earlier era, his contributions blurred the artificial lines between theory and experiment. His two-volume textbook on quantum mechanics was of great aid in my formative years of learning the subject. May his memory be a blessing. (3/3)
With one titan departing after another, the past year has been a cruel one in the world of physics. I was devastated to learn that the great physicist Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, 1997 Nobel Laureate in Physics, has passed away. (1/3)
I remember fondly the interaction I had with him eleven years ago in Lindau, Germany. His kindly, gentle demeanor would give no hint of the great revolution, and I do not use this word lightly, that he helped bring about through his foundational work on laser cooling. (2/3)

This year we welcomed a number of new postdocs to the string theory group in Amsterdam. As the organizer of the String Journal Club, I had the pleasure of hosting the first session of "The Fellowship of the String", our series introducing the new cohort. (1/4)
". . . one does not simply walk into a postdoctoral fellowship in the string group. They have to undergo the standard initiation of introducing themselves and walking us through their work." (3/4)
A couple of years ago, I wrote about Christopher Nolan's odyssey as a filmmaker, which might be of interest before (and after) you catch his interpretation of the Greek epic. https://t.co/DsAr9zfUGU
