Wildcat Creek did not reach flood stage overnight & water levels are expected to continue falling over the next few hours. We'll keep a close watch today and let you know if anything changes.

Update 5/26 8:08 a.m.

The stream gauge on Wildcat Creek at Scenic Drive indicates waters have receded and did not reach flood stage overnight. Water levels are expected to continue falling over the next few hours.

A Flood Warning has been issued for Wildcat Creek at Scenic Dr.

At 9:15 p.m. the stage was 8.9 feet.

At 14 feet, flood waters reach Poliska Lane, just north of Fort Riley Blvd.
At 16.0 feet, flood waters begin to reach Wildcat Creek Rd, just upstream of the Scenic Dr bridge.

The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight to a crest of 14.1 feet. It will then fall below the flood stage Thurs morning.

Never drive through flooded areas. You will not know the depth of the water or the condition of the road under the water.

Blue River Hills Rd. is currently impassable north of Tuttle Creek Blvd. due to 2+ feet of water over the road at low water crossing.

Good news! The flood watch for Riley County was canceled. Rainfall totals have been less than expected.

5/24/2022 A flood watch is in effect for a large portion of Kansas until Wednesday morning. Heavy rainfall is expected.

A rainy day is ahead with widespread rainfall through this afternoon, which could be heavy at times and lead to localized flooding. Flood Watch remains in effect until 7am Wed. Totals reach 2-3" in many spots with locally higher amounts by the end of Wed. #kswx

Poliska Lane has been reopened as of 8:20 a.m. July 16!

Poliska Lane in MHK has been closed due to minor flooding on Wildcat Creek, but is expected to be reopened sometime during the morning of July 16 as water levels decrease. No other roads near Wildcat Creek are expected to close at this time.

Update 5:10 p.m.

The Flood Warning for Wildcat Creek at Scenic Dr. is now in effect until tomorrow morning.

This afternoon the stage was 16.0 feet.

Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

.@NWSTopeka has issued a Flood Warning for Wildcat Creek at Scenic Dr. in effect until late tonight.

At 10:15 a.m. the stage was 11.1 feet. Flood stage is 14 feet.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for Riley County through this evening.

The river is expected to rise above flood stage this morning to a crest of 15.7 feet late this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late this evening. The crest expectation has been reduced from earlier this morning, when it was 16.5 feet.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Southeastern Riley County in effect until 1:15 p.m.
Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. An additional 1 to 2 inches are possible in this area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

@NWSTopeka has issued a Flood Warning for Wildcat Creek at Scenic Dr. until late tonight. Do not attempt to walk or drive through flood waters, turn around - don't drown. Please be advised and pay close attention if you live along Wildcat Creek.
