Parliamentary Forum on Youth Affairs (UPFYA) is an advocacy platform in Parliament formed in 2008 by a section of youthful members of the eighth Parliament.
As Peoples' representatives we were appalled by the poor state of the roads in our Mityana Dist.despite continued promises by the executive that our roads will be worked on.
The few rehabilitated roads are already in a sorry state that the technical officers couldn't explain.1/2
Over the weekend, accompanied by local gov't leaders as the 4 Opposition Mps in Mityana District, we collectively carried out an inspection/assessment tour of some completed, ongoing & pending road projects in Mityana in line with our oversight function for proper accountability.
This morning we held an informative discussion on the Petroleum Supply Bill with some colleagues to fully appreciate what is in it for the future of Uganda?
With adverse knowledge from the Ministry of Energy represented by Asst.commissioner, Mr John Friday, Uganda is moving from ONT to the new arrangement for 3 main reasons;
1. The security of supply
2. Competitive prices
3. The oil revenue go to UNOC instead of Kenya as it been.
Amidst the heated debate, it is notably important to focus on the citizenry benefit of shifting the premium from 118$ to 63$ as a result of doing away with the middlemen and having UNOC in partnership with Vitro as the main supplier to the 66 active oil companies in the country.
Govt therefore seeks to guarantee two main issues as clearly mentioned by the President @KagutaMuseveni in his address on the matter.
1. Reduction in fuel prices that are already pre-negotiated .
2. The sustainability of supply
Building more Ugandan capacity is a wish of every citizen and this position should be centralised on that and not any other @UpfyaOrg
