Here is the final Performance Task that I created for my mom. I designed a simple pattern for her without telling her what it was so she could follow along. It uses colour change, double crochet, in the round, and using the back/front loops @YEPeducation #letsteachadults

After last week’s meeting, I have found that crochet requires both mathematical and logical thinking to understand why specific counts and stitches are being used, and how to adapt/improvise when things go rogue. #letsteachadults @YEPeducation

Here’s a progress update of the “crochet in the round”. I found a simple bee pattern so we tested the techniques she’s learned and added invisible decreasing. This was practice before buying the correct colours, we also added button eyes. @YEPeducation #letsteachadults

Last week, I tried to analyze which of the multiple intelligences my mom would be. I’ve concluded that she is most likely a naturalistic learner which may have helped her in her ability to learn crochet; recognizing the patters and organization #letsteachadults @YEPeducation

This week I went over Looming with my mom. We discussed the different options for crochet that can be used while incorporating this tool. Since she made a scarf last term, she can now use this as a way to make hats and mittens as well. #letsteachadults @YEPeducation

Last week, I went over some of the key stitches that my mom learned last term. The only one we have not yet covered is crocheting “in the round” for hats, mittens and plushies, so that will be our next focus. @YEPeducation #letsteachadults

This year I will be continuing to teach my mom crochet skills. She has learned the basic stitches and hand motions so we will be advancing to more complex patterns, proper terminology and stuffed animals. I used this week for a quick review #letsteachadults @YEPeducation

I thought I would recap on the things I’ve gone over with my mom, I think for our next project we’re going to begin making baby blankets! In just the 8 weeks alone she’s almost completed a full scarf and learned a new pattern and changing colours @YEPeducation #letsteachadults
