Look at the plight of the Chin people in Chin state of Myanmar. The main town, Paletwa township, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 a𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, was taken over by the Arakan Army (AA) in Jan 2024.

According to the attached media statement, the Chin people are having a very hard time in the hands of the AA. People as young as 15 yrs old are forced to join and fight with the AA and 𝐬𝐨 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 and other safe places, a confirmation of what we already know.

This is a sign of what’s coming, irrespective of how the conflict ends, there will be inter ethnic turmoil for decades to come. On top of the desperate people fleeing the country there will be arms, drugs, and all kinds of illegal activities, including people with sociopathy, will cross the border into India, further destabilising the region.

It is high time that India secures the eastern border with Myanmar by urgently putting up 100% fence and manning it by dedicated professional border security forces.

As RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat ji rightly pointed out, the insurgency in Manipur died down over 10 years ago and the state was having a peaceful development period, the insurgency was slowly going away on its own. It will be really devastating not only for the innocent people of the state but for the region if the insurgency is reignited by wrong policies on the part of the union government.

You have mentioned that Peace is untenable without being foregrounded by justice.
