I did some math a few years ago:
Assuming 1 bison, LARGE cow, or wild game such as moose or elk, per carnivore per year, it came to 0.0009 deaths per meal, or one death for every 1095 meals, assuming 3 meals per day.

To maintain stress levels in accordance with our evolutionary environment, our day job, housework, cooking, and errands COMBINED would need to take up NOT MORE than 5.6 hours of our day.
I love this. Prior to agriculture, humans on average spent 28-36% of their waking hours literally doing nothing. This is exclusive of time spent socializing, eating, napping, and participating in recreational activities.
In the 1970s & 80s, anthropologists working in small-scale, non-industrial societies fastidiously noted down what people were doing throughout the day. Iโve been exploring the data & am struck by one of the most popular activities: doing nothing. [thread]
Genetically, we're still identical to our hunter-gatherer ancestors, and are simply not made to handle the stress of an 8 hour work day, plus a 2 hour commute, only to rush home for a few hours of housework, and errands.
@Edival@costcocanada Of course, I don't even bother walking down most of the aisles when I go to @costcocanada anymore, so I can understand why they would want people to believe that carbs are essential. They lose money when people choose to no longer make themselves sick and obese on junk food.
@Edival@costcocanada 325 grams of carbs per day is what made me 75 pounds overweight. At 41 years old, I'm now in the best shape of my life, and I owe it almost to entirely to reducing carbs to less than 50 grams most days. 325 grams would put me in a sugar coma now.

I received an email about a new, federally registered non-profit organization, that's been established to lobby the federal government to legalize unpasteurized dairy within Canada.

@fromVeganning @kevinstock12 Many plants contain compounds that bind with iron (and other minerals), preventing the body from using them.
So even though one may be getting high amounts of iron from meat sources, it's still possible to be iron deficient if the meat is being consumed alongside certain plants.
@GeorgeMonbiot Hi George, This compendium of peer-reviewed papers on the climate benefits of regeneratively managed grazing may be of interest. Thanks. Hope Below Our Feet

I found this very interesting. Apparently the human body typically stores 1000-2000 days worth of B12 (2.75-5.5 years) assuming sufficient intake. That's how vital it is to human health.

I don't think it's a coincidence that that's also about how long most people are able to survive on a vegan diet before they begin seeing visible signs of decline, and why few vegans last more than 3 years before incorporating meat back into their diet.

Considering that so many omnivores struggle to meet their minimum protein needs, how much more difficult is it on a vegan diet?
Maybe we should ask the vegan saviour, Dr. Greger, how his muscle maintenance is going?

When the DIAAS score of plant proteins is accounted for, a significant portion of the population is getting less protein than needed, even under the old RDA of 45-55 grams.
