One of the worst things about Trump is that he’s ushering in more corporate welfare, cronyism, and socialism while parading it under the banner of capitalism, so we end up with all the failings of those ideologies but with a generation of young people blaming the market economy.
"Incredulity, surprise, horror—these are healthy reactions to Trumpism.
But the assault on our political liberties and our civic decency, on our polity and on our society, is happening. Our surprise is a product of a complacency we haven’t quite shed."

Politico reports that GOP members of Congress can't find smart young conservatives to work for them.
Senior GOP congressional staffer:
“Everyone knows what the problem is: The organizations that bring young staffers to Washington, D.C. have spent the last decade prioritizing blind ideological loyalty instead of competence or intelligence. We have a generation of rabid, incompetent idiots.”
The 20% who lived in the most pro-Trump places suffered 70,000 more COVID deaths than the 20% in the most pro-Biden places. Red America obeyed those who told them not to mask, not to vaccinate. They died for it. No, Fauci is not the villain here. https://t.co/7hxuP9yOfi
There is a sickness in this administration. Discounting Americans killed in war—to advance Trump’s fabricated narrative about the conflict—is vile and loathsome.
Loved the Odyssey, what an incredible work of imagination. Many ideas to ponder, but this one stands out: Don't break the deepest rules of your civilization, or else it might collapse and burn around you...
Mark Hertling:
“It is such an abject failure, the MOU…U.S. service members are getting killed, 10,000 people in Iran are without water, the Kuwaitis oil facility up in flames…That to me seems like an abject failure of diplomacy and they should own it.”

@RadioFreeTom Anyone have any idea who the US Officials and prominent persons were who were conspiring with the Russian government to orchestrate this scandal?
The Fourth of July celebrates the most radical idea in American history: that ordinary people can speak, argue, dissent, and govern themselves.
Free speech has a remarkable power to defend itself. Let people talk, and bad ideas can be answered, dogmas can be challenged, and truth has a fighting chance.
But the culture that makes free speech possible needs defenders.

Ronald Reagan: “You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman…But Anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American…This, I believe, is one of the most important sources of America's greatness.”🇺🇸
BREAKING: It happened again.
Trump fell asleep during a public event in the Oval Office. Shame on his family and advisers for putting him through this. This is elder abuse.
25th Amendment now!
Seems to me Trump should be questioned and pressured on why his supposedly pro- “war fighter” Sec Def is purging an accomplished and respected war fighter. The commander in chief can overrule a secretary of defense. It may not work, but upping the political and internal consequences of this crap for Hegseth would be a net good thing.
Infuriating. The Army just got ROCKED by drone warfare in the Middle East, so badly that it contributed to the decision to terminate combat ops. Donahue was the General who best understood modern drone warfare. So naturally he was fired ARGH @FrankLuntz

In the old USSR, people could be arrested for photographing bridges, tunnels, etc. A repressive and paranoid regime assumed the photographers must be spies and saboteurs. Americans laughed at such petty tyranny. Nothing like that could happen in their free country! Until now.

Pulte begins a purge of the intelligence community. Add it to what Hegseth is doing w/ the military, Blanche w/ Justice, Patel w/ FBI, and hirings at ICE, and we’re entering a very dangerous period, one that makes Watergate look like child’s play.

Well, she’s basically right. Capitalism doesn’t spontaneously occur naturally. It is a creation. And since its creation the average human being stopped being poor, ignorant, and short-lived. Poverty is natural. Violence and death by bowel stewing disease is natural. Prosperity is unnatural. And we have capitalism largely to thank for it.
FYI Iran is now rich and will control the strait while selling their oil on the open market.
I was critical of Obamas deal, but this makes that look amazing in comparison.
Trump F’ed it all up then got bored, but he’s 80. He won’t have to live with the consequences for long. We will
