Stopping touts is absolutely right. But with supporters challenging how parts of this process were handled, the club also has to make sure genuine match-going fans are treated fairly.

Not every one of these young signings will make it, obviously, but if you can bring talented players in at 16 and give them a proper pathway, a few of them can become very valuable first-team players.

But one question is still difficult to ignore: left-back.

I’d rather United wait for the right player than panic-buy the wrong one.

Still, going into the season with this level of depth there is a risk.
