A Tajik elder tells her story:
“My name is Zaibo. I am 104 and a half years old. I was born in Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, Xinjiang. I got married at 15 and moved to a place two villages away.
My father was Adilshah and my mother was Lalihan. Life was extremely hard back then, and we did not have proper housing. My father was relatively well-off and supported me.
My husband passed away when our daughter was seven years old.
Since then, the Communist Party of China has taken care of me. It provides subsistence allowances, relief funds and pensions for me.
I have no worries about food and clothing. My life has brightened up. The Party is our greatest support.”
