“Overdose deaths more than doubled in Vermont between 2019 and 2022. We have among the highest per capita overdose death rates in the country. Yet Gov. Phil Scott recently vetoed a bill that would open a pilot overdose prevention center in Burlington.”

This weekend was the 5th anniversary of my youngest sister's death while incarcerated. And it's the 4th anniversary of my middle sister's fundraiser for ppl like Maddie: ppl who are unhoused, have SUD, are caught up in the legal system.
We miss our girl every second of every day, a grief that is as much a part of us now as our blood & bones. Helping ppl who are suffering like she did is one of the few ways we can mitigate that pain.
We are raising funds & asking for donations of outerwear for @V4CJR, which works w/ ppl leaving incarceration, many of whom have nothing. She'll pick up from you directly or you can donate $ to purchase snacks, socks, parkas & more (Venmo: @mojown; PayPal: mauraoneill@gmail).
🌱 The alternative to consume drugs in a safe setting. 🌱The alternative to possess and consume drugs without being criminalized. 🌱The alternative to use substances that are regulated to promote safety. 🌱The alternative to survive, heal, seek health and safety over time.
The harm caused by the toxic drug supply is the direct result of an immoral policy choice to allow people to suffer and die rather than provide legal access to safer alternatives. https://t.co/LQWAxpdJ1V
💔 Broken hearts across Vermont every day because of overdose deaths that should have been prevented. Here is one way. #OPCsSaveLives https://t.co/SLcil070xS
Thank you to Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman for stopping by our Re-entry & Recovery Center for justice-involved people and for a great conversation! ⭐️ @DaveZuckermanVT

Last fall, a South Burlington woman addicted to methamphetamine received a surprising offer: If she were willing to talk to a counselor and take weekly drug tests, she could get paid — even if she tested positive https://t.co/RUglZ5YyQG
