If wishes were time machines I would go back to before my sister died—of a lethal combination of stigma & endocarditis from injecting drugs—knowing what I've learned this year about harm reduction. Let #harmreduction be our time machine going forward. https://t.co/SUu5nDQKsx
VT legislators have an opportunity to override @GovPhilScott veto of legislation piloting overdose prevention centers in VT. @okatherine op-ed in @vtdigger is a powerful first hand call to action to lawmakers to act and save lives. A must read!#VTPOLI https://t.co/OUgPr9Tox4
@JessanneWymanVT Sorry about that—her Instagram is private but she posted all the info on Facebook, as well. This should work 🤞: https://t.co/sSHDJMpcVF
This weekend was the 5th anniversary of my youngest sister's death while incarcerated. And it's the 4th anniversary of my middle sister's fundraiser for ppl like Maddie: ppl who are unhoused, have SUD, are caught up in the legal system.
Please consider donating to this incredibly important and valuable collection for folks in our community who are in need. If you’d prefer to Venmo me at @SarahFGeorgeVT just indicate “VCJR” in the memo and I’ll make sure the money gets to Maura! 👇🏼
We are raising funds & asking for donations of outerwear for @V4CJR, which works w/ ppl leaving incarceration, many of whom have nothing. She'll pick up from you directly or you can donate $ to purchase snacks, socks, parkas & more (Venmo: @mojown; PayPal: mauraoneill@gmail).
@MAPLESYRUPSLUT @bbavt @UVMMedCenter @NSBVT I have also volunteered at shelters, as well as a syringe services program that has a drop-in day space where people can get out of the heat and cold. I’m sorry if you had a negative experience volunteering; when I’m in those places I have felt fellowship and grace.
.@bbavt opposes a warming shelter. A warming shelter for unhoused people in a city that is about to get very cold. This is just cruel. "Platinum" members of @bbavt include @UVMMedCenter, @hulabtv, @nsbvt--do y'all support this position? https://t.co/PIMgYtiSBB
@MAPLESYRUPSLUT @pacoccino@bbavt @UVMMedCenter @NSBVT I’m Burlington born and raised, live a block from the proposed shelter, and am a 4th-generation (at least) Vermonter…but empathy doesn’t require being from or living in a certain place. Try it! You can be compassionate from anywhere, I promise.
@thevpo1@bbavt @UVMMedCenter @NSBVT I literally can't believe anyone would oppose a warming shelter. I don't know why I'm shocked given #btv's inhumane response to unhoused ppl/ppl w/ SUD, but I am. @UVMMedCenter knows the actual medical consequences of living outdoors. And they're members of this org? WTF.
@farmerdarrell@selene_colburn I live downtown. When I see people sleeping outside or using illicit drugs, I am scared for them, not for myself. And Paula Routly isn't just some random wealthy white woman-she's a newspaper publisher with incredible power to shape opinions.
What's shocking about this piece is not syringes or a report of a public blowjob, it's the lack of compassion. When the publisher of VT's alt-weekly walks by people sleeping outside, her concern is for herself, not THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOWHERE TO LIVE.

@MrVoT1313 @mktbtv I wrote some of them 😂 Which is how I know compassionate stories are published in spite, not b/c, of her. She didn't want me to write about ppl who lost their kids b/c of drugs, didn't want to feature someone fat on the cover, said so much biased shit about PWUD...I could go on.
The "damage to our beautiful burg" is not comments on a NYT article or your discomfort with poverty & mental illness, it's the suffering experienced by our neighbors. There are in fact solutions to this suffering, and you own a newspaper...🤔 But fear mongering gets more clicks?
