“Love Hurts” is a power ballad by the Scottish rock band Nazareth, featured on their 1975 album Hair of the Dog. Originally written by Boudleaux Bryant and first recorded by The Everly Brothers in 1960, Nazareth transformed the gentle country-pop song into a heavy, emotional rock ballad. The track became their biggest international hit, peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, #1 in Norway (where it remained for 14 consecutive weeks), #1 in Canada and #1 in the Netherlands.

Although the song initially attracted little attention in the UK, it became a worldwide hit after receiving strong radio airplay in North America.
