I’ve spoken recently about the need for peacemakers. On this Father’s Day I feel gratitude for all the fathers who act as peacemakers in their homes and communities.
My own father was an example of this during my childhood. And I have tried my very best to carry over his righteous influence into my own family, which now includes hundreds of people—each of whom I love dearly!
Fathers, as you become peacemakers in your homes, you can literally thwart the influence of the adversary. As you demonstrate the charity that true followers of Jesus Christ manifest, the Lord will magnify your efforts beyond your loftiest imagination.
As you follow the Prince of Peace, you will become His peacemakers.
Exactly 25 years ago, on January 1, 2000, the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles published “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.” This is the original document: https://t.co/hD3DzqJfQp. I am one of four living Apostles who signed my name to this landmark document, along with Presidents Dallin H. Oaks, Henry B. Eyring, and Jeffrey R. Holland.
Over the last quarter century this testimony has been read, studied, and even memorized by countless disciples of Jesus Christ. My study of this testimony increases my desire, every day, to be more like Him.
As I celebrate my 101st New Year’s Day, I continue to love the opportunity it provides for fresh starts, new perspectives, and new and renewed resolutions.
May I extend an invitation to you as you consider what your resolutions will be this year? I invite you to come to the temple as often as your circumstances allow.
In the house of the Lord, we focus on Jesus Christ. We learn of Him and His gospel. We make covenants that bind us to Him and to our Heavenly Father. Through these temple experiences and others, we are strengthened to achieve our New Year’s resolutions.
My dear friends, may this new year be filled with the light, love, joy, and power of our Savior and Redeemer, who is the Living Christ.
During the years of the WAC/MWC/Independence era, BYU and its fans pined for the kind of postseason access and privileges afforded the power conferences.
Ironic that the power conference to which BYU now belongs is being given less respect and potentially less access than certain G6 leagues, when the weekly schedule grind in those leagues is not comparable to P4 slates.
Yes, BYU could have made moot this argument by winning one or both of its last two games, but no, the Big 12 is not getting the treatment it merits as a power player. There is an overall competitive gap between P4 and G6 and I don’t believe it is being accurately reflected in the rankings.
The committee chair says the voters rank teams, not conferences, but teams belong to leagues whose comparative strength dictates how successful the top teams from those conferences can appear to be.
To cite two easy examples that relate to BYU, two-loss Tulane lost to a Big 12 team (KSU) that BYU thumped; one-loss Boise State struggled to beat a MWC team (Wyoming) that BYU handled with ease. You’ll find both teams ranked ahead of not only BYU, but three other Big 12 programs, including the one that beat Tulane on the road.
If there’s one thing BYU has, it’s a valid perspective on the ability to compete week-in, week-out both as a non-P4/5 program and a power-conference member; the committee seems to lack a similar viewpoint.
Perhaps we will see a course correction in the Big 12’s favor over the next couple of weeks (including a likely ranked-versus-ranked conference championship game), but based on current voting patterns, skepticism is understandable.
"They poured out their thanks to God because he had been merciful unto them, and eased their burdens, and had delivered them out of bondage; for they were in bondage, and none could deliver them except it were the Lord their God."

Engage in daily, earnest, humble prayer. Nourish yourself in the words of ancient and modern prophets. Ask the Lord to teach you how to hear Him better. Spend more time in the temple and in family history work.

I promise that if you will make time to be in the temple regularly, it will change your lives. It will bless your families, strengthen your faith and open the windows of heaven for you.

.@ZelenskyyUa's tv address to the Russian (!) people might be the most moving speech that I've ever seen in my entire life. The whole world needs to see, understand and share this crucial Ukrainian message.
