Car thieves in operation on #WoodlandsEstate#Netherley#L27 must have been disturbed last night and dropped their tool. Hopefully they didn't get away with anything ๐ค
So it's been a bit quiet on the flying front due to illness. Great to get back at it this weekend with check flight and practice launch failure completed along with passing my @BritishGliding bronze theory exam. ๐ช
Busy weekend with @611VGS delivering some winch training and supporting them. Nice to get a new site in the logbook with a pax flight too ๐ #gliding#632vgsontour
@HMRCcustomers Thanks Nancy, the problem is lots of Volunteers getting their p87 rejected and being asked to send list of all journeys and details of training and holding periods to appeal, we are not service personnel. Seems to be a lack of understanding of Cadet Force Adult Volunteers in HMRC
@HMRCcustomers why is it so hard for volunteers to claim the tax relief on the underpayment for mileage?
I'm hearing from so many volunteers who are getting letters saying it's employment and not entitled when we are not employees, is this a major gap in your staff training?
@HMRCcustomers /2 its hit and miss depending on the competence of the person who picks up the form with some getting processed without issue and others being asked for mountains of paperwork. Can vary from year to year inthe same way paid one year lots of hassle the next
@HMRCcustomers Have a read here, https://t.co/lsqTdxL5sC
All they are asking for is the tax relief on the 20ppm difference between what is paid and the HMRC Approved rate. They are being asked for informatgion like holding periods but they are not service personnel.
@HMRCcustomers /2 they could get 20 days VA over a year (28 max) but volunteer for 50 or even 100 days a year. Other than the 25ppm for mileage they pay tax on all VA with it all treated as profit despite eg having to provide their own meals on all those additional days.
@HMRCcustomers morning Steve, essentially voluntary youth leaders. Majority of days they receive no allowance for food or other expenses, just get the mileage reimbursed at a lower rate, 25ppm. They do have taxable income from the days they receive VA as they are taxed at their PAYE rate
@HMRCcustomers Less in Volunteer Allowance but most are taxed on D0 basis on their VA, so are taxed on that, and they are tax payers in their day jobs.
@HMRCcustomers 2/ some years the p87 is dealt with without issue others they're told they're employees and have a lot of hassle dealing with HMRC to sort
@HMRCcustomers They receive Volunteer Allowance for some days but travel a lot more to the place of volunteering. They get reimbursed at 25p per mile by the MOD and are just trying to claim the tax relief on the difference to the HMRC approved mileage rate
All loaded up and ready for #AirAndSpaceCamp this will be my first year supporting this amazing camp can't wait to meet all our amazing #aircadets over the coming days!

Straight onto the airfield this afternoon and good to get a few launches using the remote light boxes on the winches at Little Rissington. Time to unpack ready to welcome cadets from tomorrow as it's a @632VGS takeover.
