History's first trillionaire is a guy who catches rockets out of the sky with chopsticks and beams internet to every dead zone on the planet.
Same guy ships cars that drive themselves, humanoid robots for the factory floor, brain chips that let paralyzed people move a cursor with pure thought, and an AI running on a supercomputer his team stood up in months instead of years.
And the people crashing out about his net worth are doing it on the app he owns. The same app governments spent years trying to censor.
You cannot legislate a rocket into orbit.
Video with subtitles of yesterday’s attempted beheading of a young British man by a Somali migrant in Belfast. It’s a hard watch but Europeans must see it.
Those who intervened and smashed a shovel over the attackers’ head are heroes
They most likely saved that young man’s life
@libsoftiktok We also have voter ID, a mandatory holiday on election day, and NO mail-in ballots. Not saying things here are perfect, but the most common-sense measures are in place and completely free of controversy.
Britain had a moment of silence for George Floyd. Our politicians kneeled en masse to show their outrage at his killing. "I can't breathe" became a slogan.
George Floyd died on the other side of the world. He wasn't British.
Henry Nowak *was* British and his treatment by the police was shocking and negligent in the extreme. Yet there is no minute of silence. There is no coordinated public campaign. There is no kneeling at sporting events.
And we all know why.
During the summer of BLM, some people said "All Lives Matter". This was treated as the highest form of racism and anyone who said this was immediately cancelled. Why? Because the people in charge don't actually think all lives matter in the same way.
They have created a racial hierarchy of victimhood where a career criminal who died through mistreatment by police in a foreign country with 0 evidence of racism like George Floyd is automatically sanctified because of the colour of his skin.
And Henry Nowak, a British man, one of ours, is automatically dismissed and ignored because of the colour of his.
This is the ugly fruit of so-called "anti-racism", an obsession with race that has created a two-tier society which treats people differently because of the colour of their skin.
This needs to stop.
Henry Nowak's father says the 'contrast' in the police's treatment of his son and his murderer is 'unbearable' in a statement after Nowak's killer was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
'His murderer was afforded decency. He was believed'!
Sounds good, but totally ignores the inherent nature and day-to-day reality) of the sector. A similar case would be of school teachers. Summer, winter etc. vactions are scheduled in schools so that we don't have situations where in the middle of the term either the teacher is missing, or students are missing. For a court to function, not only do the judge(s) have to be present, but each side's lawyers, court staff etc. Courts are not like a corporate where people can have vacations on a rolling/ rotational basis, and courts would just continue to function normally and smoothly. Rather you would have a situation where adjournments would increase by magnitudes because either the judge is on holiday, or one of the lawyers is on holiday (with the only other alternative being that judges and lawyers don't get any holidays at all).
You want pendency down? Get the judiciary to start enforcing the offence of perjury. Take measures that the goverment (the largest litigant in the country) doesn't engage in frivlous litigation. Just these two steps would reduced litigation by double-digit percentages.
The life of a decently maintained vehicle is WELL OVER 15 years. And E20 will bring it down to 6-7 years. This is not a joke. The only ones who benefit are Ethanol manufacturers and automobile manufacturers. The rest of society (and yes, the environment, for whom this is ostensibly being done) suffers for the greed and the utter incompetence of people who made these policies.
Terrible analogy. A better one is that there is a colony of 100 houses, but only 3 are sought to be demolished because that colony is 'unauthorised.' 97 houses dont have any action taken against them. The 3 house owners are right to contend Mala fides and arbitrary action.
Actually even this analogy is uncharitable, because it presupposes DGC was going something illegal (which it wasn't).
That's a great point of view. On original side (e.g. real estate disputes) cases go to the High court to die. Takes 8+ years for witness examinations, 20+ years for partition suits. So those definitely should go to the district court. But 100% see your point about IP litigation. I guess it will become more about appeals from interim orders?
By all means run a bulldozer over Delhi Gymkhana. But don’t give the bullshit of exclusivity or privilege or tax payer money. If thats the standard we are living by then shut down Constitution Club; demolish the CSOI where govt land was given at throw away price to babus; shut down DSOI; take back all newspaper properties on BSZ Marg; Take back all lands given to NGOs which are profit centres; demolish IIC and Habitat Centre; stop subsidised food in parliament. MPs get paid so why should their food be subsidised? if they cant afford it, step down from parliament and do something that pays you enough. Shut down the Air Force and Army Golf Clubs, Santushti Centre, Race Club, and the Delhi Flying Club where no one flies anything. The DGC is being targeted because someone has an axe to grind and didnt get membership. Now its being made an elite vs non-elite fight which it isn't. But since we all want to play Bolshevik commies or are inspired by CCP and Khmer Rouge to demolish everything nice, decent, genteel, lets do a comprehensive job of it. Make it all a animal shelter which would warm the cockles of Pol Pot's heart. But please don’t give the BS of security because that is total hogwash. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Gymkhana club critics are acting like there's going to be this massive benefit for the masses, when in reality it will probably be used for some ludicrous project that costs 10,000s of crores of our tax money and will make zero positive impact on the average person's life. Classic crabs in a bottle.
