Good morning, Venice! Today is our second day to discuss “what planet boundaries mean for cities and infrastructures” at the @Cafoscari. Thank you for the organizers Vanesa Castán Broto, Olivier Coutard, Stefano Soriani, and Erika Conchis!
Today we launch "The Economics of Water: Valuing the Hydrological Cycle as a Global Common Good", the final report of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water @watercommongood, which I have had the honour of co-chairing with @jrockstrom, @NOIweala & @Tharman_S for the past 2.5 years.
This report follows in the footsteps of the @lordstern1 Review on the Economics of Climate Change & Dasgupta Review on the Economics of Biodiversity to complete the environmental trilogy with the Economics of Water. The message is clear: we must govern the water cycle as a global common good, recognising our deep interdependence and the interconnected links between the water, climate & biodiversity crises.

What are the politics of remaking urban #gardens as an infrastructure for #water#conservation? How can we rethink water infrastructure through the lens of human and nonhuman life in urban gardens? Thank you, @theAAG, for mentioning our paper on #LosAngeles discussing these issue
Gardens in Los Angeles have become a new frontier of water conservation. @VMeilinger and Monstadt interrogate LA’s modern infrastructure regime that shapes water conservation policy https://t.co/4JI5IYeeP7
Very happy to see this paper published in #Geoforum. Here, we propose the analysis of (de)stabilizing factors of socio-technical regimes and the resulting (in)stability configurations to develop contextualised transition strategies.

In 2022, the six largest western oil companies made more money than in any year in the history of the industry: over $200bn, largely from pumping and selling the fossil fuels the world must replace to avert the climate crisis.
