Compare salaries, income growth, purchasing power, inflation, and living costs.
A price increase means little without knowing how incomes changed alongside it.
Compare the whole picture, not just the price tag.

You claim Subhash Chandra had a
rs 22,000 crore debt and was allowed to settle it for just rs 6.5 crore.

That is misleading.

Rs 22,000 crore was not money personally borrowed by Subhash Chandra. These were claims against him as a guarantor for loans taken by companies.

• The companies that actually borrowed the money are still liable to repay their loans.

• Companies linked to these guarantees have already repaid around ₹43,000 crore.

• The repayment plan was approved by creditors holding 81% of the voting share.

So no, this is not simply:

“₹22,000 crore loan → ₹6.5 crore settlement.��

That is a misleading headline.

A guarantor is not the same as the borrower. And a recovery from the guarantor is not the same as the final recovery of the entire loan.
