Today is the first day of Ramadan which is being observed by the Muslim members of our school community. I would like to extend my hopes and wishes to everyone engaging in this significant time of observance that you have a generous Ramadan.
People frequently tell me that they are "afraid of getting it wrong". Ironically I have found comfort in embracing the notion that I will of course get I wrong, This is how I was raised and it is this awareness has finally freed me to honestly explore my relationship with racism.

February is #BlackHistoryMonth This offers a unique opportunity for us to actively reflect on, and educate others about our past, to consider our present, and to unite with the common goal of celebrating others and proactively working towards creating a more equitable future.
@counti8@CarrieBercic What???? Can someone please clarify for me, is this actually happening at one of our schools right now? Please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will follow up.
For those of us who are fortunate enough to experience periods of being in good physical health, we also will experience times of physical illness, like when we have a cold or get the flu. The same is true for mental health. Mental health impacts us all. #BellLetsTalk
Looking forward to having courageous conversations and engaging in collaborative learning with staff across the district around addressing racism in schools during this Friday and Monday's ProD sessions at DT and JO.
I look forward to the day when we will no longer need a human rights campaign to convey things that should be completely obvious to everyone: 1. we are all diverse so approach others with a sense of curiosity and humility 2. treat others as you would like to be treated!
