Health editors including @BBCHughPym and me in a room full of the brightest next leaders of the #NHS with wide-ranging and hard questions from @BrineHealth for @FMLM_UK . It made me optimistic for the future but we did make some suggestions - eg transparency, patient safety.

I’m very proud (and a little shocked) to say I won the gold award for Health at the 30 to Watch Journalism Awards last week. Huge thankyou to @vsmacdonald@JoannaPotts and @clairenewell4 for all their support so early in my career.
The promise of a new, free life-extending drug for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy last December gave so many families hope.
But as @vsmacdonald has found, those who are receiving it comes down to a postcode lottery.

We are hugely proud of the double @BAFTA nomination - following back to back wins the past two years. We owe this recognition to our dedicated teams on and off screen, and our network of brilliant independent filmmakers and producers who make so much of our work possible.
Now the victory is public from that excellent C4 News interview, I will say this
"Having had to deal myself with an NHS attempt to argue me and 54000 doctors out of whistleblowing protection, I am delighted that Max and his legal team have successfully resisted the NHS' plan to deprive the Chairs of all NHS Trusts of whistleblowing protection. As a doctor I can tell you the NHS desperately needs people like Max chairing its Boards. Max's victory is a victory for us all."
Kudos Max! https://t.co/Lg7nXrm0y6 via @vsmacdonald

Reading the newly disclosed documents from the family court cases involving Sara Sharif - my assessment is that her death was an inevitable consequence of a family justice system that simply refuses to recognise, let alone acknowledge, the true risks posed by domestic abusers.
We absolutely need collective efforts to end #SGBV against women and girls with #disabilities. @ValidityNGO has a major project on detection and response to violence and abuse against women and girls with disabilities too, read more here > https://t.co/YDcW83hyQ8 #IDPD2024
This is what @ValidityNGO has been saying for years. Our successful case on behalf of TJ, a woman locked up, treated horrendously and who died. https://t.co/C9V74tf8i4
Women & girls living with disability face specific risks and additional forms of violence – sometimes from their caregivers, incl.:
🔸 Coercive and controlling behaviours
🔸 Neglect and withholding of medicines, assistive devices or other aspects of care
🔸 Financial abuse
🔸 Forced sterilization
Perpetrators may take steps to increase isolation and make it more difficult for them to access support.

I don’t want to sound like one of those judges who couldn’t name the Beatles but until a few days ago I had never heard of Greg Wallace. From the little I have seen of him I am quite relieved I hadn’t. But when you turn on the news to find out the latest in Syria, France, Ireland and the US, you have a long wait right now. Weird
This is absolutely shocking. I can’t imagine what this must be like for the family. Hope @axainsurance@AXA have seen this thread and reversed this decision.
2. This thread is aimed squarely at my mum’s travel insurer, AXA, and their failure to take account of my mum’s best interests when considering repatriating her home to the UK.
