Today students tried making a simple boat and tested to see if it would float.

Students were given the job of designing and building a crayon box that would hold 24 crayons. They had good discussions. About how to improve their design.

Today students designed and built a marble maze prototype. Before the end of the day they had the opportunity to try different mazes

As part of our seed exploration, we went outside to look at dandelion seeds. Students noticed how many seeds came from one flower and how they floated in the air. The dandelion seeds are much bigger then traditional tobacco seeds and much smaller than sunflower seeds.

Grade 3 students visited our class today to learn all about beavers.

Students used their best beaver skills to make a diorama of a beaver habitat. We will share these at the Conservation Champions Festival next week.

Today we learned about Calgary’s past. We built a cabin, visited one of Calgary’s oldest buildings, were visited by a coyote, and learned Indigenous games. Thank you @FortCalgary!

For school aged children you can also demonstrate skip counting. Grade 1s need to be able to count by 2, 5 and 10.
