I’ve spent 29 years fighting for LGBTQ rights. I’ve seen a lot of posts today from gay people worried about marriage equality. I’ve been warning people for 10 years not to rest on their laurels, but they largely did. Now I see panic.

But here’s the thing. Your Trans siblings are in deep trouble right now. We are the direct target of Trump’s Trans Nuremberg Laws. He’s trying to erase us, eradicate us, and make our lives a living hell.

It’s time to speak up for us like I’ve spoken up for all of you for the overwhelming majority of my life. Because here’s the thing, if we fall, you’re next. We must stand TOGETHER as the LGBTQ community. Please speak up and help stop this. We need to stand strong and united. Not divided and avoiding trans people as an issue. We matter too.

Julia Kristeva’s essay on abjection might link to this. It touches on how the“other” is rejected from society because it represents that which crosses our understanding of boundaries - I find it really interesting when applying this to queer or critical race studies.
