@redbeardbsbl@rjsmith1001 Davis does maybe half the Dodgers games during the season. A lot of Thursday-Sunday cycles he was gone to prep for and call national baseball and, later, football broadcasts
@LADodgersMuse "The Dodgers have never won back to back WS"
"The Dodgers never won the division the year after winning the WS"
"Teams with an LCS sweep always lost to teams from a 7-game LCS in the WS"
narratives aren't what they used to be.
@ThatNYYChick A potential solution may be expanding to 32 teams, so 8 divisions of 4 teams each, have only division winners make the postseason tournament, balancing the schedules, and rearrange divisions each year based on recent team records to create competitive parity
@ThatNYYChick But then bad teams in bad divisions will take playoff spots because someone has to. This year shows the potential for two divisions to be won by sub-.500 teams, and one would unbelievably get a bye.
@dgrahrig@RonDeSantis Expand to 32, go to 4 divisions and only division winners make the postseason. For better parity, use a variant of a relegation system where the divisions are reorganized each year based on records the previous year or two. High school football divisions in California do that
@DanDawgAZ@RonDeSantis And seeding is doubly important given the differing series lengths at the early tiers. A lesser team with a couple good starters is more likely to upset a better team in a shorter series.
@DanDawgAZ@RonDeSantis The multiple wild cards already render the divisions essentially useless. And the unbalanced schedule makes it worse because a good team in a bad division can eat up wins and get a better seed than a potentially better team in a tougher division. It skews expectations
@BookieMettsSZN In 2023 they changed to a more balanced schedule so teams played every other team and couldnโt feast on bad teams in their division, so final records werenโt as skewed.
@LuckyTPUB@RMBee Strictly speaking though itโs not a transporter mishap story. Itโs a Spock having a bad dream because heโs stressed out story. So aside from what Spockโs dream reveals about him, the real question is whether it works as a parody of transporter mishap stories. I would say no.
@JoshConducts@RMBee 1. There still should be some verisimilitude at play. The matter doing weird stuff with organic material is easier to believe than a living being being made into an animate object that still lives.
2. It still has to service to a good story. Tuvix was. Rascals was dumb
@lordcroquer@RMBee Because Ron Howard liked him and let him adapt A Beautiful Mind.
Then a mediocre Da Vinci Code script for Howardโs movie version was overlooked because it made money.
@Gardener196@Dodgers@StephenNelson Piling on? Demoralizing? Heโs making $60 million a year. He needs to nut up, get mad and shut the naysayers down with his play on the field.
@nelson__espinal Hopefully this was his test to keep the closer job if he had a clean inning. I donโt see how they canโt switch to Tanner Scott to close from now on.
