Respectfully bro, the following are the dangers of non-traditional interpretations.

1. Community building will fail and collapse because if we trim out traditional elements and adopt only those proved by science, one needs an IQ of at least 110 to understand what's going on. This isn't possible with all. Traditional on the other hand is instantly appealing, easy to practise, builds communities - EXTREMELY essential to growth of Buddhism.

2. Suttas, Sutras, Chants, Prayers, Hymns all become instantly meaningless. This will at once put you at odds with the Buddhists of the world (look east not west) and you will be viewed with suspicion. East Asian and SE Asian Buddhists are extremely trad and they'll dismiss your Buddhist renaissance.

3. Festivals/Marriage rituals will not make sense.

4. It becomes harder to claim Budhist heritage sites like Bodh Vihara for example.

There is nothing dangerous about traditional Buddhism. It is the sweetest thing imaginable and has been called "sweet nectar of Buddhadharma" in Mahayana texts. You are possibly concerned about misogynistic verses which can be dealt with easily.

Secular Buddhism is only useful as a backup. In an age where people in all religions are dumping outdated religions and turning atheists, Buddhism instead allows you to become secular Buddhist. But that's about it.
