@agcemo@jadel4w and this is the beauty with art, it's everywhere. Not just in a collection or a museum, but outside, in the street, on a building, a building, trough a sign or a website or a flyer in the street on a pole. art is everywhere and can be made by anyone. art is universal.
@agcemo@jadel4w art is not qualitative, it's an intent, here the intent is to communicate to the user that trough this button he can go back. and trough a simple sigle the user instinctively now what the button does, and so the intent of the creator is expressed. a button can be art and is art
@agcemo@jadel4w an exemple that I can give from first hand experience is in architecture. We seek old industrial plant with their particular layout and constructions that represents a different time, socially, politically, economically and technically, and the intention behind the buildings
@agcemo@jadel4w there is definitly art in a souless industrial mass produced graphic. there are entire genre of artist whose only purpose is to explore such imagery and what it can create. it's realy present in product design, graphic design and architecture.
@agcemo@jadel4w and I think that our differences of opinion come from what we consider art. from my understanding for you it's merely a graphical piece devoided of any intention, a product meant to be consumed on a visual level at most. while by definition art is the intention and expression.
@agcemo@jadel4w and that "human beauty" is the result that as an art enjoyer myself I seek. and what I believe is what can make any art beautiful, be it as graphicaly ugly as it can get. that banana with tape for example, what matter is the intention not the technique
@agcemo@jadel4w as a collector and art "consumer" it's understandable, but what make art art is that someone expressed himself at some point and that's what make it art. what I don't get in your reasoning is, why would you value art as you do and then discard it for the sake of AI gen stuff ?
@agcemo@jadel4w yes, because you use a pencil, you merely ask AI to do something, you didn't create anything. having an idea is great, trying to do it yourself is even greater. and it can be garbage, worthless or ugly but this is ok if at least you tried to express your idea, your sentiment
