@dubsinfive It’s not “heading directly to downtown Chicago”.
The tornado is traveling basically due east. It won’t get anywhere near Chicago proper at all, let alone downtown.
@NWSChicago looks like maybe the thunderstorm warning graphics have stopped posting here. Last warning for Cook County isn’t reflected here, for example.
@nilwxreports That’s definitely not true universally. Here in Chicago, I’ve seen storms warned for 2” hail and 70mph wind, was in the warning zone, never heard a siren. Only reason I knew was my weather radio. Definitely something to take up with the involved jurisdiction(s).
@sovietbothunt3r@OverlandPark_PD Means they won’t send cars to scenes of minor accidents with drivable vehicles and no injuries, presumably to protect officer/driver safety in severe weather. Involved drivers are asked to make reports after the fact once they are safely able and/or conditions improve.
@AlexMil92241944@NWSChicago Daily Record = record for that calendar day in the recorded time series (e.g. yesterday was the most rain O’Hare has seen on 4/14).
April Record = considers data for all days in April.
Maybe read about the meaning of things you don’t understand. Don’t comment from ignorance.
@DJspider69057@NWSChicago Looks like they’ve cancelled some of the western counties but it’ll probably be allowed to run to expiration in Chicago proper.
@NWSChicago What’s striking to me is how little weather/damage we saw here in Downtown Chicago given the warning for wind to 70mph. It’s basically life as usual over here. No evidence of anything other than rain on the street.
@NWSChicago unbelievably bad conditions now on Michigan Ave in Downtown Chicago. High floor window at 8th & Michigan. Photos from earlier tonight and ~ 20 minutes ago, out the same windows as photographed by the same phone.
@NWSChicago Yup, both visible lightning and audible thunder here. Near Michigan / 8th in Downtown Chicago across from Grant Park, though on an elevated floor.
@NWSFortWorth a few sub-severe hailstones (smaller than pea) here in Richardson (~ Renner/Plano) on the Collin County side of the line, as well as heavy rain.
@NWSFortWorth Pretty heavy rain north of the Collin County line as well here in Richardson CityLine. No gauge but it’s heavy enough at times to impact visibility.
