Tom Monaghan founded Domino’s Pizza and became a billionaire. He owned the Detroit Tigers, yachts, jets, an island, and a 1931 Bugatti Royale he bought in 1986 for a record $8.1 million.
Then he read C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity and called himself “the ultimate showoff.”
He took what he called a millionaire’s vow of poverty. He sold the Bugatti. He sold the Tigers. He sold nearly everything.
He used the fortune to build Ave Maria University and an entire Catholic town in Florida, with a massive church at its center.
A man who called himself the ultimate showoff gave away everything to build a Catholic town from scratch. ✝️

God bless President Bukele.
