We are moving from Wings to Roots
Time to be grounded, go back to family, tribe, and effectiveness rather than individual, fluid social attachments, and inclusiveness
This means unlearning everything from the last 50 years
Millennials will be the worst hit generation
1/ We are entering a post-progressive era. The cultural left-liberalism which emerged a century ago and took off in the late 1960s is exhausted. This โvibe shiftโdoesnโt just repudiate the last decade, but the last 60 years. My latest @WSJ
going to face severe consequences. cancelled US work visa or a riot in France or disappointment in Japan
extrapolate this to the biggest life choices and see where you need to hedge your bets
from values perspective, what everyone should see is: which pendulum is most likely to get to the extreme in your lifetime.
bring stability in that area first
everything else can be taken care of but a pendulum that is at it's most extreme can rob you of one critical thing
and that thing will be so important, it will affect everything
if you are at the peak of communism or gender biased society or transactionalism or globalism, you want to sort this our in your personal life
for eg: we are at peak globalism. anyone who bet on globalism is going
An Indlan reporter is given the opportunity to interview the Dalai Lama about a number of things, but chooses to focus on lmmlgratlon to The West and asks...
Reporter: People from Afghanistan or Africa who want to stay in Europe, shouldn't they be allowed to?
Lama: No, Europe will become like Afghanistan or Africa... he he he he he.
Reporter: Like my parents came to The UK from India, that's ok too isn't it?
Lama: No, England is small island, 90% become lndlan he he he he he he.
The Dalai Lama gets it, he thinks she's mildly retarded, why can't the reporter understand๐ค
The world is moving fast towards tribalism.
We can see this in:
- Truth is tribal truth
- Political Polarization
- Content localisation
- Ethno-Nationalist movements
- Localised Governance
- Cultural Revivalism
- Economic Protectionism
These have real consequences. ๐
๐จ We mapped Trump and Harris' Stated Values from their speeches
๐ฉ is Harris
๐จ is Trump
Hereโs what I found ๐ It is a battle on many fronts! What do you think?
I think it would be an anomaly to score high on Individualism and Communism at the same time
Because spectrums indicate the same fundamental Values -> Whether someone puts group before themselves or themselves before the group
Study from CMX Summit 2023: Communities that share failure stories get 3x more engagement than those sharing only wins. Vulnerability builds stronger bonds than perfection ๐ฏ

Even I don't know all the implications of something like this. I will try and articulate/publish it.
But here are some major impact points:
- Awarness of one's own value-system
- Knowing there is no right or wrong. Every value-system that has survived has a place
...
- Not considering opposite values as 'the enemy'
- Connecting with aligned people, forming a tribe
- Exploring diverse values consciously
- Being more balanced (less extremes)
- Communities attract aligned people

Material progress depends on high Individualism and Capitalism.
But a warm loving life with stability is with a family and a tribe.
We note that this is not a new dichotomy. Every sailor/explorer faced this. We still do. Maybe just more visible?
The world is recognising that Individualism is winning the material world
The last century has made it clear that economic coordination based on self-interest is the formula for building infrastructure and achieving material progress.
This gets interesting ๐
This creates loneliness and a resurgence of tribalism.
But Collectivism can never match the speed or the sharpness to keep a culture materially ahead of the rest.
The dichotomy is strong here:

The world is moving towards tribalism
What does this mean?
If you stepped into a rural Texan town about 200 years ago, as an outsider with different skin, you'd be ignored at best and killed at worst.
This was true everywhere.
