After 21 years, saying goodbye to the Vancouver Art Gallery Library & Archives and the finest colleagues is bittersweet. Hope new staff will look after you well.
This unexpected visitor arrived @VanArtLibrary today, created by Vancouver artist Gary Sim. Owls are a symbol of wisdom, very appropriate for a library devoted to art and artists. Many thanks for your generous personal gift to our staff, Gary! #BCartists#CanadianArt

It's our 90th birthday today @VanArtLibrary ! To mark this special occasion, here's the 1931 floor plan of our original 1145 Georgia St. building, when the Library was in the Board Room. We're now at 50,000+ volumes and feeling pretty spry for 90. #CanadianArt#artlibraries
Like artist files, picture files are an invaluable visual resource for creators of all kinds. Thanks for saving yours @nypl#visualresearch#artlibraries

While doing some research on Vancouver artist Chuck Wing Yip (1923-2009), we came across this wonderful image in Canadian Art, spring 1956. Yip stated: "Each painting has its seed in the one that went before it." #CanadianArt#BCartists

Always a pleasure to host @UBCiSchool for an in-depth class on #conservation issues in the art library. This year we did it virtually, led by @VanArtGallery head conservator Tara Fraser. Thanks to all who attended - great questions! #artlibraries#preservation
Next on our order list is Jonathan Chapman's new book 'Meaningful Stuff', which explores how we can design for longevity, rather than wasting precious resources. #sustainabledesign#circulareconomy#designbooks
