Extremely happy and honored to have been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant @ERC_Research. Many thanks to lab members for brainstorms, discussions and their patience, and especially @miesenp @RebeccaHaaaa @taskopru_ezgi for help drafting the proposal.

By PhD students Oscar Lezcano and @LaraFuhrmann_96 of @viroinf. Thanks to Niko Beerenwinkel and Martijn Huynen for the wonderful collaboration! @radboudumc_weet
At the final stretch of 2023, our latest publication came out: an experimental virus evolution study in fruit flies:
Parallel evolution and enhanced virulence upon in vivo passage of an RNA virus in Drosophila melanogaster https://t.co/J0Z7pl20iX.
We investigated whether absence or presence of RNAi affected RNA virus evolution. We find slightly more polymorphisms in the absence of RNAi, but a much stronger effect was the parallel evolution of capsid mutations leading to enhanced virulence.
Excited to announce the lineup for the 4th International virtual seminars on #arbovirus biology. Investigators will present their research on a range of topics, from differing career stages and perspectives. Help spread the word with a retweet! All welcome!
Starts 19th Oct.
Please RT. Junior Postdoc position available in my lab to develop recombinant RNA virus vaccines. Experience required in vaccinology and RNA viruses and molecular cloning.
Exciting opening for a PhD position in the group of @felixhol in our department @radboudumc_weet . Please share with potential candidates.

@QuJieqiong@radboudumc@RIMLSInstitute Congratulations Jieqiong with this very nice publication. Thank you for your hard work and the best of luck in Cambridge.
The paper includes a searchable database. We hope this will be a useful resource for anyone interested in mosquito-associated viruses. Thanks to editors @BarryRockx @ReinaSikkema @MarionKoopmans en Maarten Schrama for editing the special issue.
Happy to share our analyses of published mosquito virome papers. Composition and global distribution of the mosquito virome - A compreh... https://t.co/LvyQxtX8cD. @radboudumc_weet@ncohnl@OneHealthPact
First authors Jurgen Moonen, Michelle Schinkel, en Tom van der Most painstakingly dug through 175 papers to define the most abundant insect specific viruses in Culex, Anopheles, Aedes mosquitoes and their distribution.
