One thing that stuck in my head is Trump's and Bessent's vague wordings and their literal contradictions with the official Chinese press regarding tariffs. You might call this unimportant, yet all the information we are currently trading with comes out of their mouths, so every word and every action has to be microanalysed.

I am very much certain Bessent & Trump are doing their best possible to borrow time, to be exact, they're trying their best to control volatility until May 10th, the market's deadline for an agreement between the US & China. Why May 10th you might ask. Container Shipping Routes.

> why is this topic so important? because container ships can accurately forecast when companies will start to position themselves defensively ahead of the tariff effects. Why? Because goods come from China -> US on container ships. All of the goods you are currently consuming departed before the tariffs announcement, since Ocean shipping takes 25-45 days from Chinese ports to US shelves. So this creates a time window where barely any new ships depart, but everything looks normal in the US economy.

Yet behind the scenes we are currently experiencing 42% of scheduled ships between Asia <> US being canceled (blank sailings). This used to be close to 0% a few weeks ago.

so simple: if we know how the container ship departures decline, we also know when the US economy will be affected since a container ship has a certain duration travelling through the ocean.

So when will the US economy start to be massively affected? Deadline: May 10th, that's when the last Chinese container ship will dock on the East coast. So if everyone knows that, why are we not all already in full panic mode and SPX & NQ are up last week?

Trump & Bessent are trying to do their best job in gaslighting you that a) they don't care that much about the stock market, b) that china & us trade war is coming to a deal.

Back to my main point, Trump is trying his best to gaslight you that everything is fine to keep volatility down and buy time BEFORE US shelves gradually run out of inventory.

It's pretty much clear that China has leverage over the US and Trump went from being aggresive regarding tariffs, to being very much defensive when asked so the market doesn't kick him in his balls. Especially since Trump lied about talking to Xi on tariff situation i lost belief in his gaslighting. The US inventory will run out of goods and this is what companies are preparing themselves for. E.g. the ISM Manufacturing Survey e.g. reports record level increase in Inventories since before the dot com bubble. US companies are preparing for inventories that slowly deplete while it they aren't replenished anymore.

This running out of goods is a huge issue and probably the start of a new recession if not acted properly.

So if Trump doesn't find a deal in the next few days traders will start to act more defensively, since the market won't wait until that deadline. Trump has to throw more bones into the market until participants stop believing his lies or until he found a deal with China. If he doesn't find one quick now, we will see major consequences. Also for layoffs etc.
