Recently, our customer care team shared an experience that perfectly aligns with the vision of Policybazaar.

A 7-month-old baby’s health insurance claim was initially rejected, citing congenital disease under permanent exclusions.

The team stepped in, escalated the case for reconsideration, and the claim was approved. ❤️

The lesson? Understand your policy, ask questions, and know your options.

Why do health insurance claims get rejected?

Here are 4 common reasons every policyholder should know:

1️⃣ Waiting Periods
2️⃣ Policy Exclusions
3️⃣ Non-Disclosure of Medical History
4️⃣ Policy Conditions & Documentation

Understand your policy before you need it.

Health insurance is not just about having coverage. 🏥

During hospitalisation, families may also need help with admission, documentation, claim coordination & hospital processes.

That’s where PB Care+ comes in — providing eligible customers additional support at select hospitals.

Because when healthcare gets difficult, the right support matters.

76 days. ₹39.46 lakh hospital bill. ₹34.60 lakh authorised through cashless claim.

But around ₹4.86 lakh were non-payable expenses as per the policy terms.

This case highlights an important Health Insurance lesson: don't look at premium and Sum Insured alone. Understand exclusions, non-payables and applicable add-ons too.

The right coverage can make a significant difference to your out-of-pocket expenses.

Don't just buy Health Insurance. Understand your coverage.

@Pankaj0530 Hi Pankaj,
As discussed, the claim has been approved by HDFC ERGO, and the approved amount has been credited to your account.
We are always available to support our customers and will be happy to assist you with any further requirements.

[Varun Batra @VarunPbClaims]

Gaurav, we have made our best efforts to represent your case to the insurer. However, the insurer has maintained its position that the claim cannot be approved as they do not find the line of treatment justified as per their assessment.
That said, the discussion is still open, and we continue to follow up with the insurer and make every possible effort to get the claim reconsidered.

We will keep you posted on the progress.

One accident. A 17-year-old life. And a fight for recovery. 🏥

17-year-old Sarthak met with a serious accident after falling from a balcony. He was brought for treatment in a critical condition with polytrauma and hypovolemic shock.

His injuries included severe abdominal trauma with hemoperitoneum and multiple intestinal perforations, splenic injury, acute kidney injury, rhabdomyolysis, a right frontoparietal SDH, severe anaemia with thrombocytopenia, multiple vertebral and pelvic fractures, a T1 vertebra hairline fracture, rib fracture, and serious fractures of the left femoral neck and acetabulum.

With such a critical medical condition, the treatment journey was already extremely challenging for the family. The financial pressure of a major hospitalisation added another layer of stress.

This is where Policybazaar’s claim support team stepped in.

The team assisted the family through the claim process and supported the case with the required documentation and coordination.

The claim was approved twice for 30 Lakhs and 11 Lakhs, providing crucial financial support to the family during Sarthak’s treatment journey. 🤝💙

For a family going through such a difficult time, claim support is not just about paperwork — it is about having someone to help navigate a complicated process when it matters most.

We hope Sarthak continues on the road to recovery and gets back to a healthy life. ❤️
