I really want to know when and how feminism said you should not spoil your man sha. I hate when you guys catch cruise or spread misinformation using feminism knowing how feminism is the only agency of women.
Do better!
We really tolerated a lot of madness in the Nigerian educational system, and it is largely the reason many children grew up and completely lost the vibe for academics.
Because tell me, why exactly was a teacher flogging a child because their parents hadn’t paid school fees? Do you know how incredibly cruel you have to be to punish and flog a child or teenager because their parents are yet to pay fees? Looking back now, it sounds insane. Why not just send them home at most?
Also, tell me exactly why it was mandatory for pupils and students to be on low cut. Why were teachers walking around with scissors, blades, and shaving cream, ready to shave off a student’s hair at any moment? What exactly is the correlation between a haircut and learning?
And then there were teachers who thought it was cool to flog students for failing.
Your students are not doing well in your subject, and it doesn’t occur to you that maybe you’re a bad teacher. Maybe you should try another approach. Instead, you resort to flogging them and instilling fear in them.
And fear doesn’t help anyone learn. It makes you hate the subject even more.
I still remember how some of us would start panicking the moment a teacher walked into the classroom. Not because we had done anything wrong, but because punishment was always hanging in the air like a threat.
This is why we have a lot of adults today who are scared to try. They still carry that fear of failure with them. Failure that is normal, by the way. Failure that is evidence that you tried. Failure that is often necessary for growth.
If you begin to think deeply about a lot of the things our parents allowed years ago, you’ll realize how ridiculous many of them sound today.
I hope we turn out to be better parents. Stricter parents who refuse to tolerate this kind of BS from teachers, no matter how “normal” it was back then.
If Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT and his service chiefs fail to track down and secure the release of the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and other kidnapped people, we will have no choice but to occupy Aso Rock Villa this week!
