E' davvero una giornata storica per l'Europa: oggi l'Eurocamera ha chiesto che il diritto all'aborto venga inserito nella Carta dei diritti fondamentali.

La risoluzione è molto chiara quando sottolinea che "ognuno ha il diritto all'autonomia decisionale sul proprio corpo, all'accesso libero, informato, completo e universale alla salute sessuale e riproduttiva e a tutti i servizi sanitari correlati senza discriminazioni, compreso l'accesso all'aborto sicuro e legale".

E lo è anche quando chiede a Polonia e Malta di abrogare le leggi che, invece, vietano o limitano l'interruzione di gravidanza: norme contrarie ai diritti delle donne e pericolose per la loro salute sessuale e riproduttiva.

Un monito preciso, tra l'altro, agli stati membri in cui medici, e perfino intere strutture, negano l'accesso all'IVG sulla base di questioni di "coscienza". Situazioni che in Italia, purtroppo, conosciamo benissimo: in molte regioni è sostanzialmente impossibile accedere all'aborto, le donne sono spesso costrette a girare in lungo e in largo per l'Italia prima di trovare un medico o una struttura dove potere interrompere la gravidanza, e nei consultori si dà sempre più spazio ad associazioni e movimenti contrari alla libertà di scelta.

A tutto questo va messo fine, la libertà delle donne di decidere per il proprio corpo va garantita su tutto il territorio.
