About this substack issue, I think more people should write personal essays not shitty articles.
Write about your life, tribe, career, poems, interests, language and maybe shitty opinions not a piss poor attempt at societal issues with or no research.
And you can just tell they are more and more too AI-esque. People need to learn that authenticity is more captivating than just trying so hard to sound smart.
I might be biased, but every two scrolls on Substack feels like déjà vu. It’s just TikTok’s pseudo intellectual content articulated in writing. Unoriginal, unresearched ideas repurposed in buzzwords. I miss when it was random stories, not a race to sound profound.
The transatlantic slave trade was a crime against humanity that struck at the core of personhood, broke up families & devastated communities.
Let us reject the false narrative of racial difference & fully commit to human rights, equality & the inherent worth of every person.
I watched HE’s closing speech at the Leadership Retreat and I also followed our reactions in WhatsApp groups and on social media.
It feels like many of us are avoiding the most obvious and important part of his message. The concern about accountability is not only about GoR officials. It shows up in our homes and in our workplaces and in government of course.
Maybe each of us needs a personal « Mwiherero ». The kind where we ask ourselves honest and sometimes uncomfortable questions.
