You are correct, win a sectional and your team goes to the Sweet 16 at Huff Gym in Chambana the following Thursday. School administrators worried about students missing too many classes, which is why the super sectionals were created on Tuesday nights, but the Sweet 16 remained

I think the confusion began in 1956 when the supersectional concept began. Win a sectional = go to "state" was the procedure prior to that, and this is perhaps why this is an argument; they kept the honor consistent. ???

The Harvard Step Test was a key in players’ agility. Strickland used it with Bob Guyette (Marquette’s lone All-American) and helped his coordination, starting with his freshman year (fall of 1967).

Illinois Basketball Fact: After studying the pictures of Marquette Academy Gym it reminded me how back in the 70's Coach Strickland had his players hop up the bleacher steps. First a set with the left foot 1 step at a time, then right foot & then 2 steps at a time with both feet.
