Everyday I'm reminded that Nye Bevan was right. Tories - whether they are Blue, Red, Purple, Orange or a "Funny Tinge" - are ‘lower than vermin’ & always will be.
Nu-New Labour guide to financial security:
Go to university and make connections doing student politics.
Get a job well over average wage.
Use connections & join a local council for a salary bonus.
Get elected an MP.
Profit.
The shining path for the whole population!
"It wasn't until I became an MP that I felt financial security for the first time in my life"
@wesstreeting MP tells @krishgm about growing up in poverty and how this experience from his life now informs his work in politics, in this week's Ways to Change the World podcast.
Labour’s opportunity mission will give young people from all backgrounds the chances they want and need in life.
I won’t see working people people held back any longer - and I’ll never be shouted down or distracted from that mission.
People do see that a lot of UK local party politics - local constituency groups, councils etc - are run by/for little family/friend cliques.
That a lot are also basically run by various "church" groups is not talked about, even though it's why parliament is full of wackjobs.
Evangelical Christian, Trad Wife, & sinister extremist Tory MP Miriam Cates continues her National Conservatism theme of a low birthrate being the UK’s top priority: she blames ‘Cultural Marxism’ & ‘EXCESSIVE EDUCATION’ as key factors causing the existential threat! 🇬🇧 🤪 🙋♀️ 😱
You campaigned for that in 2010, & actually got into government - with the Tories.
Then lost a referendum on AV instead of PR - AV, the system Gordon Brown offered you, but you'd refused to go into coalition with Labour.
But 5p on plastic bags & £9000 a year tuition fees!🎉🍾
@brokenbottleboy I've never been a swift footed Hero, insulted by his General, during a war in ancient Anatolia, besieging a city with walls built by Gods, while Dawn's roesy fingers paint the sky over a wine dark sea, so The Illiad is completely lost on me.
"I know you Lisa, this is not you"
"I will not take lessons from you about civility in politics"

Looool. Walk into any pub in the land and the hot topic on everyone's lips is Starmer's internal management of the Labour Party.
I know Lyin Lee Hairbrain's 'journalism' consists of tweeting things he's "hearing" from various unnamed sources, but "people in pubs" is the best yet
It would make for a good "debate" to set fire to it in front of him, laugh in his face, and tell him to go fuck himself - but you need those sweet sweet clicks and invites to the good dinner parties.
Enjoying this, and I have to some of it has surprised me (particularly who the ‘new elite’ are).
Obviously I disagree with a great deal - but that will make for a better conversation! I’ll be interviewing @GoodwinMJ for @novaramedia this week.
Customers deserve value for money.
Instead, people are being ripped off by subscriptions they no longer want.
Labour will take action to cut the cost of living and stop customers getting trapped in unwanted contracts.
@adamfc2000@smerkinkones @Wulin2001 I wasn't passing judgment on it - I cry no tears for the dead soldiers - the post popped up on my feed, as did people both retweeting it & calling it a fake, so did a Google search to check, & that was the result.
Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, (...).
And the process is continuing day by day & minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.
Rachel Reeves explains people voted to leave the EU in 2016 and integral to that vote was leaving the single market, leaving the customs union & ending free movement. The interviewer points out that wasn't what Keir Starmer used to say.
Labour have to pretend they are stupid enough to think that buying stationary is somehow a scandal, because Hancocks actual scandals - letting people needlessly die of a virus, dodgy contracts to enrich mates etc are things they either supported or would do themselves.
🖋 Which minister's department spent £59,155 buying stationery at Banner from 22 February to 2 April 2021?
Despite only spending £1,470 at the same company for the other 325 days of the year?
