The fact is. Udhananidhi spoilt a golden opportunity to shine. He thinks the crowd is the same as in 1980s when crass personal comments were seen heroic. No sir. The times have evolved. So have the people. Get it into your brain , the same admk baiting won’t work with TVK. They have essentially replaced you as the owner of the vote bank . Wake up , smell the coffee and learn to reinvent yourself and your party or be ready to be relegated to oblivion.

The response of the D stocks to Uday Stalin’s crass remarks can be classified into 4 types

1. He didn’t say it - see his lip movement, it’s doctored video ( but it was a live video telecast on SunTV itself)

2. He will /should say like that only ( crass, but full marks for honesty)

3. He didn’t use any actress’ name - if others did what can he do ?

4. He said something, but what about Vijay using the word dash or நல்லா வாயில வந்துரும் ?

1 and 2 don’t merit any discussion. But before I explain why 3 and 4 are lame and deliberate obfuscation, listen to the attached video before reading further.

Q : What can he do if audience shout “Trisha , Trisha” ? What about Vijay ?

Uday is not expected to discipline or even discourage them, but this question presupposes that the issue is his smile / tacit approval. It’s not. This defence is nothing but a strawman, directed against an argument no one is making.

We are NOT lamenting the deterioration of public discourse in an abstract sense. We are NOT talking about generic cuss words (like dash, வாயில வந்துரும்).

We are talking about thinly veiled sexual innuendo, linking two individuals. A targeted harassment. An unproved attack on the character of a woman, who’s not even in politics.

How can we be sure that Uday s remarks were deliberate double entendre ?

Listen to the turn of the phrase at the end , “நான் காவேரிய சொன்னேன்” with a smirk. It’s the tell. The only way to not catch that is if you are not a native speaker.

You might be inclined to give him the benefit of doubt, until you realize that this is not the first time he has used double meaning to demean political opponents. He did the same with EPS and Sasikala in 2021 and had to apologize after public furore.

Once is a mistake. Twice is a pattern.

Compare that to CM Vijay.

What Vijay spoke was defensive and self-referential. He didn’t talk in a vulgar manner about any other person - man or woman. At best, one can say it was unbecoming of the post he holds.

To equate the two , is not just shameless whataboutery but sheer stupidity.
